DeepSeek took the U.S. by storm<\/a> this week: The Chinese company\u2019s chatbot rose to the top of the Apple<\/a> and Play<\/a> stores, while major U.S. cloud providers like Microsoft<\/a> began offering it on their platforms.<\/p>\n But \u201chundreds\u201d of companies \u2014 especially ones with ties to government \u2014 have blocked the service, Bloomberg reported<\/a> based on interviews with executives from cybersecurity firms Armis and Netskope.<\/p>\n \u201cThe biggest concern is the AI model\u2019s potential data leakage to the Chinese government,\u201d Armis\u2019 CTO Nadir Izrael said.\u00a0<\/p>\n Bloomberg Law separately reported<\/a> that a San Francisco law firm, Fox Rothschild, has blocked DeepSeek as well.<\/p>\n According to DeepSeek\u2019s privacy policy<\/a>, the company stores all user data in China, where local laws mandate<\/a> companies share data with intelligence agencies upon request.<\/p>\n The Pentagon has just started blocking<\/a> DeepSeek, while the Navy banned it<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
