Marianne Faithfull was planning to meet up with Sadie Frost before her death<\/p>\n
The \u2018Swinging Sixties\u2019 icon’s death was announced by her spokesperson on Thursday (30.01.25) evening and tributes continue to flood in for the singer and actress.<\/p>\n
‘Empire State’ actress Sadie, 59, was among those to pay their respects and revealed they had planned to meet up.<\/p>\n
Alongside a throwback black-and-white snap of her friend, she wrote on her Instagram Story: “RIP dear Marianne. <\/p>\n
“We had spoken recently on the phone… And sadly we had planned to meet which hadn’t happened. I have lots of amazing memories of times together \u2013 love you M.” <\/p>\n
\nMarianne\u2019s former lover, Sir Mick Jagger, remembered Marianne as a \u201cwonderful friend\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nHe said on Instagram alongside a series of vintage photographs of him with Marianne from the 1960s: \u201cI am so saddened to hear of the death of Marianne Faithfull. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cShe was so much part of my life for so long. She was a wonderful friend, a beautiful singer and a great actress. She will always be remembered.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nMarianne started her musical journey in 1964, recording \u2018As Tears Go By\u2019, a song penned by Rolling Stones stars Mick, Keith Richards, and their manager Andrew Loog Oldham. <\/p>\n
\nThe track reached the UK Top 10, marking the start of her association with the Stones. <\/p>\n
\nHer personal life became entwined with the band, and after her marriage to artist John Dunbar ended, she entered a relationship with Mick, becoming a fixture in London\u2019s \u2018Swinging Sixties\u2019 scene. <\/p>\n
\nKeith also paid a touching tribute to his late friend.<\/p>\n
\nThe 81-year-old guitarist posted a recent photograph of the pair together, with him clinking a wine glass against Marianne\u2019s teacup, and said: \u201cMy heartfelt condolences to Marianne\u2019s family! I\u2019m so sad and will miss her!! Love, Keith.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nTheir Stones bandmate Ronnie Wood, 77, added on his Instagram page: \u201cFarewell dear Marianne.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nConfirming the sad news, Marianne’s spokesperson said: \u201cIt is with deep sadness that we announce the death of the singer, songwriter and actress Marianne Faithfull.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cMarianne passed away peacefully in London today, in the company of her loving family. She will be dearly missed.\u201d<\/p>\n
