The \u2018Legally Blonde\u2019 star, 48, admitted the mishap happened when she was invited to present an award to a well-respected actress but completely misjudged the tone of the evening \u2013\u00a0delivering a roast-style speech as she believed it was meant to be a lighthearted event.<\/p>\n
She has now admitted to People about her friendship crumbling as a result of her gags at the event: \u201cI\u2019m not even kidding \u2013 we\u2019re not friends anymore.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt literally haunts me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reese added: \u201cSo this friend of mine \u2013 who I didn\u2019t really know that well, but she was a very serious, proper actress \u2013 she asked me to give her an award.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI had never been to that particular awards ceremony before, and I thought it was like a roast. So I got up and I roasted her.<\/p>\n
\n\u201c(But) the tone was British and elegant and classy. And I was like, \u2018Remember the time we got laser hair removal?!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDespite now seeing the funny side of the incident, the Oscar-winner admitted she remains embarrassed by her error. <\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cI\u2019m still embarrassed about it. I thought it was so funny, and it was just, I had the wrong audience. It was pretty bad.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI think (the actress being honoured) doesn\u2019t like me anymore… oh well.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nReese recently reflected on the importance of humour in her life. <\/p>\n
\nShe said on \u2018The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon\u2019 about how she instills it in her children: \u201cI think you should embarrass them enough that they\u2019re funny later in life.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJimmy then told her: \u201cYou are one of the coolest moms, I would say. Your kids gotta be proud of you, but also, you post (online) that make you embarrassed\u2026 I love that about you.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nReese agreed her children \u2013\u00a0Ava, 25, Deacon, 21, and 12-year-old Tennessee \u2013\u00a0don\u2019t always love what she shares on social media, but she believes it teaches them to take life less seriously.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cI think it\u2019s a good thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
