David Sacks, Trump\u2019s AI and crypto \u201cczar,\u201d said in an interview on Fox on Tuesday<\/a> that there\u2019s \u201csubstantial evidence\u201d that Chinese AI company DeepSeek \u201cdistilled\u201d knowledge from OpenAI\u2019s AI models, a process that Sacks compared to theft.<\/p>\n Sacks, who didn\u2019t cite the source of this \u201cevidence,\u201d suggested that DeepSeek used responses from OpenAI models to train its own. \u201cI don\u2019t think OpenAI is very happy about this,\u201d Sacks said. <\/p>\n DeepSeek, which went viral this week for its openly available, highly performant models and free chat apps, is being looked at with increasing scrutiny by U.S. government officials.
