Pete Davidson<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about his latest role and the chance to play the villain in the upcoming movie Dog Man<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a really fun, loud, layered character,\u201d Davidson, 31, said in an interview with CBS<\/a> on Sunday, January 26, referring to Dog Man\u2019s forever nemesis, Petey the Cat. \u201cI don\u2019t get a lot of opportunities to stretch like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comedian \u2014 who has been out of the public eye as of late after checking into a wellness center for mental health treatment<\/a> in June 2024 \u2013 went on to share how grateful he is to have a shot at playing the bad guy in author and illustrator Dav Pilkey\u2019s beloved Dog Man<\/em> books.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the best arc I\u2019ve ever been given,\u201d the comedian continued. \u201cUsually I\u2019m in a movie for, like, nine minutes, and then shot in the face, so it was nice to have a full [arc].\u201d<\/p>\n

Davidson was referring to his short appearance in the 2021 film The Suicide Squad<\/em>. In the movie, his character, Blackguard, is killed within the first 10 minutes.<\/p>\n

The SNL<\/em> alum\u2019s latest character is a large departure from his other roles in films like Bodies Bodies Bodies<\/em> and The Dirt<\/em>, though he is no stranger to the children\u2019s movie genre \u2014 the actor also lent his voice to 2019\u2019s The Angry Birds Movie 2<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a huge Dav Pilkey fan,\u201d Davidson told CBS in the same interview. \u201cI grew up reading all the Captain Underpants<\/em> books. My mom got them for me. All the young kids in my family, they all read Dog Man<\/em>, they\u2019re obsessed with Dog Man<\/em>. And then right around the time I started noticing that, we got the offer.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with W Magazine<\/em><\/a> published in December 2024, Davidson opened up about what he hopes he will be known for \u2014 especially after dating a slew of Hollywood A-listers including Ariana Grande, Kate Beckinsale<\/strong> and Kim Kardashian<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
