Pamela Anderson used to be painfully shy before posing nude for Playboy<\/p>\n
The 57-year-old actress first stripped off for the adult publication in 1989 and over the course of 22 years appeared on more of its covers than any other model, and explained she was spurred to do so to get rid of her \u201cparalysing\u201d feelings.<\/p>\n
Discussing how her role as Shelly in \u2018The Last Showgirl\u2019 struck a chord, she told NPR: \u201cI\u2019m a very shy person. I did \u2018Playboy\u2019 because I was so shy and I wanted to et over my shyness. It was paralysing.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think Shelly felt powerful on stage.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe felt seen and beautiful and that\u2019s where she felt safest, on stage. That resonated with me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe former \u2018Baywatch\u2019 star may have been in the public eye for decades, but she feels \u2018The Last Showgirl\u2019 feels like the beginning of her career.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cReally, the rest of it was just boot camp.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI had this wonderful, messy, wild life to draw from, and I could never have played Shelly if I didn\u2019t have that life\u2026<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI think I\u2019m always reinventing myself. I like to call it playing characters. But in this chapter, I really wanted to go back into my childhood almost, and go, \u2018Who am I? Who was I meant to be? \u201c<\/p>\n
\nPamela wants the movie to be her \u201clegacy\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cWhen I did Broadway, the only picture I had on my mirror was a picture of me at four years old, before life happened.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd I said, \u2018I just need to get out of the way. I\u2019m gonna let her do it.\u2019 And so I did it for her.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd I feel like this film, too, is about that. I want this to be my legacy.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI don\u2019t want what\u2019s happened to me to define me. I want what I do to define me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAnd Pamela is excited about the future.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cI want to do theatre. I want to do musical theatre. I want to come to the West End. I want to go on Broadway again.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd I want to make my pickles and my jam.\u201d<\/p>\n
