Happy\u2019s Place<\/em> has enjoyed keeping it in the TV family by casting numerous stars from Reba McEntire<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s past sitcom Reba<\/em>.<\/p>\n Reba<\/em>, which aired from 2001 to 2007, starred McEntire, Melissa Peterman, Christopher Rich, JoAnna Garcia Swisher<\/strong> and Steve Howey<\/strong>. Nearly two decades later, McEntire and Peterman reunited with former Reba<\/em> executive<\/a> producer Kevin Abbott<\/strong> on Happy\u2019s Place<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are new characters. It\u2019s a new time and it\u2019s different. But those core things that you loved about it are there. It does feel really different [though],\u201d Peterman exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> in October 2024. \u201cAs far as trying to harness the things that [Reba fans] love \u2014 like the chemistry that we have \u2014 that is there no matter what. We\u2019re just new characters. And Barbra Jean [from Reba] was forced on Reba because she married her ex-husband. Gabby is there because she\u2019s her friend.\u201d<\/p>\n Peterman applauded Happy\u2019s Place<\/em> for finding a way to \u201ckeep the magic<\/a>\u201d without copying the same sitcom structure.<\/p>\n \u201cThe other big difference is real life family and the reality of blended families,\u201d she noted. \u201cHappy\u2019s Place<\/em> is all about finding family at work, and Belissa [Escobedo\u2019s]<\/strong> character is also finding a family that she didn\u2019t know existed and figuring that out. You\u2019ll feel that same warm feeling but you\u2019re gonna it\u2019s new.\u201d<\/p>\n
