The first part of the system sounds like it will work similarly to Ford\u2019s Blue Cruise or GM\u2019s Super Cruise software, which are Level 2 assistants that only work on highways fully mapped by each manufacturer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">It\u2019s unclear if current Gen 1 and Gen 2 Rivian vehicles will support the upcoming hand-free assistant software or if it will come to upgraded models or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/3\/7\/24093215\/rivian-r2-revealed-ev-suv-price-specs-price\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">upcoming R2 SUV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">Gen 2 vehicles already come with exclusive features like matrix headlights and an upgraded light bar that can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/10\/17\/24272889\/rivian-car-costumes-halloween-software-update-back-to-the-future-knight-rider-kitt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">change colors<\/a>, which Scaringe says could be used as an indicator to let others know a Rivian is operating autonomously, according to a Rivian Forum user. Gen 2 vehicles also come with a newer <a href=\"https:\/\/rivian.com\/support\/article\/what-s-the-difference-between-driver-and-the-rivian-autonomy-platform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rivian Autonomy Platform<\/a>, which might mean Gen 1 vehicles aren\u2019t going to get some of the upcoming advanced ADAS features.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">Currently, Rivian trucks have available \u201cDriver Plus\u201d advanced driver assistant systems (ADAS) that work similarly to Tesla\u2019s standard Autopilot software in that they enable lane keeping and auto speed up \/ slow down on highways. Richardson says there are no further details to add at this time.
