There are some major changes happening in the ballroom<\/a> on Dancing With the Stars<\/a><\/em> season 32 \u2014 and Derek Hough<\/strong><\/a> is ready for them.<\/p>\n One of the biggest shakeups of the upcoming season is that the dancing competition will now be cohosted by Derek\u2019s sister, Julianne Hough<\/strong><\/a>, who is replacing Tyra Banks<\/strong><\/a> to helm the show alongside Alfonso Ribeiro<\/strong><\/a>. The iconic model, 49, announced her exit from the ballroom in March after three years of emceeing the series.<\/p>\n \u201cI wouldn\u2019t say that it was surprising,\u201d Derek exclusively tells Us Weekly<\/em> about Banks\u2019 departure while promoting his partnership with Excedrin. \u201cShe\u2019s got a lot on her plate and a lot of things happening in her future. She\u2019s one person that will always work and will always be an entrepreneur and always create opportunities. And she\u2019s a powerhouse.\u201d<\/p>\n The six-time mirrorball trophy winner can\u2019t say enough good things about the former America\u2019s Next Top Model<\/em> host, who told TMZ in March that she is \u201ccrazy, crazy focused on business\u201d in the wake of her exit.<\/p>\n \u201cTyra was just unbelievably gracious \u2014 like really, truly, gracious, and I just have to give her absolute props,\u201d Derek tells Us<\/em> about how Banks handed the cohost reins to Julianne, 36, who has won two mirrorball trophies of her own and has served as a judge for multiple seasons. \u201cShe just sent Julianne the most beautiful message, and I\u2019m just really grateful to her for her grace.\u201d<\/p>\n As for his own reaction to his sister\u2019s new role, Derek says that there is \u201cno \u2026 question about it\u201d: Julianne is the \u201cright choice.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s a great host,\u201d the Nashville<\/em> alum \u2014 who has served as a judge on DWTS<\/em> since season 29 \u2014 tells Us<\/em>. \u201cYou know, we hosted Disney specials together and she\u2019s fantastic. She also happens to be an amazing dancer and singer and everything else, but \u2026 she was part of the show and she knows the show and she\u2019s part of the [DWTS<\/em>] family.\u201d<\/p>\n The Safe Haven<\/em> star and Ribeiro, 51, are the perfect pair to cohost the Disney+ series, Derek adds. \u201cI think that their chemistry, their knowledge, their familiarity, and also just the family aspect of the show \u2026 you\u2019re gonna really feel that. So it\u2019s great.\u201d<\/p>\n Banks, for her part, exclusively revealed to Us<\/em> in March exactly why she thought Julianne was her perfect replacement.<\/p>\n \u201cThe businesswoman in me sees how Julianne is great on multiple levels. She\u2019s a professional dancer. She is the sister of Derek, a DWTS<\/em> multi-champion, who is now a stellar judge,\u201d the Life-Size<\/em> actress shared. \u201cIt\u2019s going to be a family affair in that ballroom which people will love to watch. And she has so much personality and strong opinions backed by expertise. She\u2019s a perfect choice! She\u2019s gonna crush it!\u201d<\/p>\n As Derek focuses on what\u2019s to come on season 32 of DWTS<\/em>, he\u2019s also passionate about partnering with Excedrin for Head Care, the company\u2019s new, drug-free line of products that helps soothe headaches.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a holistic approach, not just sort of waiting for the migraine or waiting for the headache, but it\u2019s the spaces in between and what we can do to be proactive to help our overall health,\u201d Derek tells Us<\/em> of Head Care, adding that he and fianc\u00e9e Hayley Erbert<\/strong><\/a> \u201ccreated these movement routines\u201d for the partnership, including an aerobic exercise and a \u201crestorative yoga routine\u201d that focuses on stretching and breathing.<\/p>\n When it comes to working with his bride-to-be, Derek says it\u2019s \u201cwonderful.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re trying to serve people and to try to help others and take care of us,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n
