Kristen Stewart<\/a>, who played Bella Swan in the movies.<\/p>\nHe has now told GQ Spain about how he doesn\u2019t believe claims the series damaged the bloodsucking horror genre: \u201cI love that people keep telling me, \u2018Man, \u2018Twilight\u2019 ruined the vampire genre.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cAre you still stuck on that s***? How can you be sad about something that happened almost 20 years ago? It\u2019s crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n
The first \u2018Twilight\u2019 film in the franchise debuted in 2008, marking the start of a cultural phenomenon. <\/p>\n
\nOver the years, Robert has frequently reflected on the impact of the series and the polarising responses it elicited from audiences.<\/p>\n
\nIn a 2019 interview with Variety, he commented on how divisive the films were. <\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cThe people who don\u2019t like it are generally people who haven\u2019t seen it, and they\u2019re like all judgmental and stuff, and cynical people. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut I think I am a judgmental and cynical person who would just mindlessly hate it without ever having seen anything.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHe also admitted to finding the series\u2019 storyline unusual, adding: \u201cI mean, it\u2019s a weird story, \u2018Twilight\u2019.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt\u2019s strange how people responded. They are very romantic, but at the same time, it\u2019s not like \u2018The Notebook\u2019 romantic. <\/p>\n
\n\u201c\u2018The Notebook\u2019 is very, very sweet and heartbreaking and stuff. \u2018Twilight\u2019 is about this guy who finds the one girl he wants to be with, and also wants to eat her. Well not eat her, drink her blood, whatever.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nRecalling his experience during the making of the first \u2018Twilight\u2019 film, Robrert told GQ he had approached it with a serious attitude, aiming to make it \u201cas arty as possible\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nBut this approach clashed with the studio\u2019s vision for the movies. <\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cMy team sat me down and said, \u2018Okay, so whatever you\u2019re doing right now, after lunch just do the opposite, or you\u2019ll be fired by the end of the day.\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd I was like, \u2018Okay.\u2019 And so that was the only thing that got me to sort of smile a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n
