Lili Reinhart<\/strong><\/a> revealed she developed an eating disorder while filming Riverdale<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really don\u2019t like looking at season 6 imagery or pictures, because I know that 99 percent of my thoughts were about my body,\u201d Reinhart, 28, told Self<\/em><\/a> in an interview published on Wednesday, January 22.<\/p>\n

The actress, who played Betty Cooper on the hit<\/a> The CW series from 2017 to 2023, recalled struggling on set, adding, \u201cI was a thousand percent just disassociated through that entire day or scene because my entire inner dialogue is just \u2026 \u2018Your body\u2019s changing.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Reinhart has previously been candid about struggling with her self-confidence<\/a> after Riverdale<\/em> launched her into the spotlight. \u201cActually, not everyone on this show is perfectly chiseled,\u201d she replied to a fan via X in February 2020 who complimented the cast\u2019s looks. \u201cAnd even I feel intimidated by the physique of my surrounding cast mates sometimes when I have to do bra\/underwear scenes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reinhart discussed her complicated feelings about filming scenes that required her to strip down on screen.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve felt very insecure due to the expectation that people have for women on tv, what they should look like. But I have come to terms with my body and that I\u2019m not the kind of person you would see walking on a runway during fashion week. I have bigger boobs, I have cellulite on my thighs\/butt, and my stomach sticks out rather than curves in,\u201d she added at the time. \u201cThis is still something I struggle with on a daily basis. And it doesn\u2019t help when I\u2019m being compared to other women.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite feeling \u201cvery insecure\u201d about showing her body on camera, Reinhart said she \u201cfelt it was my obligation to be strong and show confidence\u201d for those watching at home. \u201cAnd I want other young women to see my body on tv and feel comfort in the fact that I\u2019m not a size 0. And I\u2019m not a perfect hourglass shape,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n

Along with discussing her body image<\/a>, Reinhart opened up to Self<\/em> about battling a debilitating illness. Reinhart has continued to advocate for herself despite not receiving a concrete diagnosis from various doctors.<\/p>\n

\u201cI understand this is a story that\u2019s not very relatable but just how dehumanizing being at a doctor\u2019s office can be [as a person in the public eye],\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m not here for small talk, I\u2019m here for help.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reinhart went through multiple procedures<\/a> \u2014 including a cystoscopy \u2014 and that led to medical professionals saying she could have interstitial cystitis. IC is a chronic disorder that causes a person\u2019s bladder or bladder wall to become irritated and inflamed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018I\u2019ve had UTIs before. I\u2019m a woman. We all know how it feels,\u2019\u201d Reinhart said about her symptoms. \u201cThe second I\u2019m done peeing, I still feel like I have to pee, but my pee is showing up with no infection.\u201d<\/p>\n
