The most nominated film of the year is an energetic musical that features such beloved stars as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/categories\/selena-gomez\/page\/2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Selena Gomez<\/a> and Zoe Salda\u00f1a. <\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s available on a streaming service you probably already subscribe to! Said portrayal is not terribly nuanced or sensitive, and 2.  <em>I Saw the TV Glow<\/em> \u2014 a film that offered a much more compassionate and insightful take on the trans experience \u2014 was snubbed by the Academy entirely.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/glaad.org\/emilia-perez-is-not-good-trans-representation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GLAAD<\/a> slammed the film as \u201ca profoundly retrograde portrayal of a trans woman\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEmilia Perez is a regressive movie that thinks it\u2019s woke. Quite possibly the worst movie ever (mid-scores from audiences &amp; critics) to get double digit nominations.
