Ariana Grande<\/strong><\/a> is floating on air after scoring her first-ever Oscar nomination<\/a>, and boyfriend Ethan Slater<\/strong><\/a> was quick to celebrate her supporting actress nod.<\/p>\n

\u201cPicking my head up in between sobs to say thank you so much to @theacademy for this unfathomable recognition,\u201d she wrote via Instagram<\/a> after nominations for the 2025 Academy Awards<\/a>\u00a0were announced on Thursday, January 23. \u201cI cannot stop crying, to no one\u2019s surprise. i\u2019m humbled and deeply honored to be in such brilliant company and sharing this with tiny ari who sat and studied Judy Garland<\/strong> singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow just before the big, beautiful bubble entered. i\u2019m so proud of you, tiny.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grande, 31, scored a Best Actress in a Supporting Role nomination for her role as Glinda in Wicked<\/em><\/a>. Joining her in the category are A Complete Unknown<\/em>\u2019s Monica Barbaro<\/strong>, The Brutalist<\/em>\u2019s Felicity Jones<\/strong>, Conclave<\/em>\u2019s Isabella Rossellini<\/strong> and Emilia P\u00e9rez<\/em>\u2019s Zoe Salda\u00f1a<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In addition to thanking the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the recognition, Grande went on to shout out Wicked<\/em>\u2019s director, Jon M. Chu<\/strong>. \u201cThank you @jonmchu for taking this chance on me and for being the most unbelievably brilliant leader, human being, and most fierce friend. i am so deeply proud of my beautiful Wicked family,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

Us Weekly confirmed in July 2023 that Wicked costars Grande and Slater were in a \u201cfairly new\u201d relationship following their respective breakups. News broke that same month that Grande and Dalton Gomez called it quits after two years [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Grande also thanked \u201cmy Elphie,\u201d Cynthia Erivo<\/strong>, who was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role. \u201cYour brilliance is never ending [sic] and you deserve every flower (tulip) in every garden. i love you unconditionally, always,\u201d she gushed. \u201cI don\u2019t quite have all my words yet, i\u2019m still trying to breathe. but thank you. oh my goodness, thank you. Universal, Marc<\/strong> [Platt<\/strong>], my family, my heart. lemons and melons and pears, oh my.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grande\u2019s reaction post featured photos of herself as Glinda, a childhood photo of herself dressed as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz<\/em> and a throwback clip of her younger self performing Elphaba\u2019s song \u201cThe Wizard and I.\u201d<\/p>\n

Slater, Grande\u2019s boyfriend and costar, also took to Instagram<\/a> to celebrate her Oscar nod, sharing a photo of Grande standing on a window sill holding pink balloons. He also shared several nomination announcement posts via his Instagram Story, one of which he captioned, \u201cOscar. Nominated. @arianagrande.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grande met Slater, who plays Boq, while filming the two-part movie musical adaptation in 2022. The two began dating following their 2023 splits from their former spouses Dalton Gomez<\/strong> and Lilly Jay<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
