The ‘Game of Thrones’ star has broken her silence on her split from the former \u2018Neighbours\u2019 star after he recently gave an interview declaring that his ex-wife Kate Mestitz was the \u201cgreatest love of his life\u201d.<\/p>\n
Carice, 48, insists she and Guy, 57, still have a \u201cwonderful partnership\u201d and are focused on raising their eight-year-old son Monte.<\/p>\n
Alongside a picture of the pair, she wrote on her Instagram Story: \u201cI don\u2019t usually engage in discussions about my personal life, but because of a number of conclusions in the media last week regarding my relationship with Guy, I wanted to make something clear.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe and I are great friends and love each other very much, but we haven\u2019t been a \u2018couple\u2019 for years. (Sorry not to mention it earlier)<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI am, however, very proud to say we are in a wonderful partnership raising the true love of our lives \u2014 our beautiful son and his hamster. The end.”<\/p>\n
\nGuy \u2013 who was married to Kate between 1997 and 2015 \u2013 insists he has \u201cmoved on\u201d from his former spouse.<\/p>\n
\nHe told the Guardian newspaper at the weekend: “My ex-wife, Kate, was the greatest love of my life, but I\u2019ve moved on from her now and the greatest love of my life is my child, Monte.”<\/p>\n
\nThe movie star was “devastated” by his divorce and Guy initially felt that he was to blame for their breakup.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “I felt like I messed up my marriage. I don\u2019t feel that way anymore, but at the time I was devastated.”<\/p>\n
\nGuy announced his split from Kate in 2015, explaining that the time had come for them “to part ways”.<\/p>\n
\nThe actor – who has known Kate since they were both children – said in a statement: “Kate and I will always love and support one another and be the best of friends. No one knows me like Kate does, and we\u2019ll forever be appreciative of our mutual respect.<\/p>\n
\n“We\u2019ve both grown enormously through our relationship, but sadly, the time has come to part ways.”<\/p>\n
\nMonths later, he embarked on a romance with Carice, and they welcomed their son into the world in 2016.<\/p>\n
