Dick Van Dyke<\/a> still goes to the gym three times a week as he approaches his 100th birthday.<\/p>\n

Dick Van Dyke has credited going to the gym for his age and condition<\/p>\n

The 99-year-old actor is planning a “big party” to celebrate his centenary in December later this year, while he also opened up on the secret to his “age and physical condition”.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Ted Danson<\/a> and Mary Steenburgen on their ‘Where Everybody Knows Your Name’ podcast, he said: “When you think… I go back to 1925, I’m almost 100. This is insane. I’m going to have a big party. <\/p>\n

“Somebody said, ‘to what do you attribute your age and physical condition?’ and I said, ‘I’ve always exercised.’ <\/p>\n

“Three days a week, we go to the gym, still. Three days a week.”<\/p>\n

\nSitcom legend Danson – known for his roles in the likes of ‘Cheers’ and ‘The Good Place’ – revealed he often saw the ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ actor working out at a gym near his Malibu home.<\/p>\n

\nHe said: “If I got there early enough I would see you literally work out on some weight machine.<\/p>\n

\n“Then, almost like you were doing circuit training, you would not walk to the next machine, but dance.<\/p>\n

\n“You literally danced to the next machine and I watched that for a couple of weeks.”<\/p>\n

\nVan Dyke’s wife Arlene Silver, 53, added: “He still does that!”<\/p>\n

\nLast month, the couple were forced to see their home in Malibu, California to escape a wildfire – dubbed the Franklin Fire by authorities – and Dick revealed he was too “exhausted” to walk to his vehicle and was picked up by fellow residents who got him help.<\/p>\n

\nDuring an appearance on the ‘Today’ show, he explained: “It was coming from the hill, you could see it.<\/p>\n

\n“And oh my God, and we got out of here. I was trying to crawl to the car, I had exhausted myself, I couldn\u2019t get up.<\/p>\n

\n“Three neighbours came and carried me out and came back and put out a little fire in the guest house and saved me.”<\/p>\n
