Pope Francis is working on a new pop culture documentary<\/p>\n
The 88-year-old pontiff – who has been leader of the Catholic Church since 2013 – is due to start filming for ‘Preacher of Beauty: A Spiritual Journey Through Art and Faith’ in March.<\/p>\n
The film – which is being made by Andrea Iervolino and the Vitae Foundation founder Luis Quinelli – will be shot entirely at the Sistine Chapel, described by producers as “one of the most iconic and spiritually significant locations in the world”.<\/p>\n
Iervolino – known for his work on ‘Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend’ – said in a statement: “‘Preachers of Beauty’ is not just a documentary film; it is a spiritual call to embrace the transformative power of art.”<\/p>\n
And Quinelli commented on how “art can reflect the greatness of creation”, and the project is being made to “deliver a message of universal love”.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: “This project stems from a profound desire to show how art can reflect the greatness of creation and bring souls closer together.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cPope Francis inspires us to see art as a vehicle for unity, a bridge between heaven and earth, capable of sparking positive change in the hearts of all.<\/p>\n
\nWith \u2018Preachers of Beauty,\u2019 we aim to deliver a message of universal love and renewed hope.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe documentary’s title comes from a 2022 summit in Rome which was organised by the Vitae Foundation.<\/p>\n
\nVarious celebrities – including the likes of Denzel Washington, Andrea Bocelli and Patricia Heaton – took part in the gathering.<\/p>\n
\nAccording to the Vatican at the time, they met with the pope to discuss their role “in triggering a cultural transformation that promotes the common good, universal values and a culture of encounter”.<\/p>\n
\nFrancis encouraged those at the summit to be “preachers of beauty”.<\/p>\n
\nCelebrities are yet to be specified for the documentary, while the team haven’t settled on a director.<\/p>\n
