\t\t<\/p>\n Dave Chappelle<\/strong><\/a> opened the January 18 episode of Saturday Night Live<\/strong><\/a><\/em> by joking about the Los Angeles fires, the election and more. <\/p>\n The 51-year-old comedian said that he reluctantly returned to the popular late-night show, noting that Lorne Michaels<\/strong><\/a> originally offered him the first episode after the election. <\/p>\n During the monologue, Dave<\/strong> revealed that he wasn\u2019t interested at the time, joking that he should \u201csave the date closest to January 6.\u201d When the offer came again in December, Dave<\/strong> decided to accept. <\/p>\n \u201cThe moment I said yes, L.A. burst into flames. And it\u2019s a tough one, because I\u2019m tired of being controversial,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m trying to turn over a new leaf. However, Dave<\/strong> pointed out that there were so many other issues at the time. <\/p>\n \u201cIf you were a rational-thinking person, you\u2019d have to at least consider the possibility that God hates these people,\u201d he said. \u201cSodomites. But that\u2019s not true because West Hollywood was unscathed.
