\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Minka Kelly<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about her personal life.<\/p>\n The 42-year-old Friday Night Lights<\/em> alum is releasing her memoir, Tell Me Everything<\/em>, on May 2, and she\u2019s opening up about her relationship with her mother.<\/p>\n When she was growing up, her single mother Maureen<\/strong> couldn\u2019t afford rent for their Los Angeles apartment, and performed as an exotic dancer for money.<\/p>\n \u201cIf she made a lot of money that night, we\u2019d go grocery shopping at 2 a.m. I spent a lot of my youth wishing my mom was something she wasn\u2019t, wishing she was like the other moms. I only was able to really appreciate how special she was when I got much older. In fact when it was maybe a little too late,\u201d she told People<\/a>.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Her mother would go on to pass away of cancer in 2008.<\/p>\n \u201cMy childhood was colorful and chaotic, unstable and inconsistent, unpredictable and hard a lot of the times, but the silver lining is that it made me a very adaptable person,\u201d she went on to explain.<\/p>\n \u201cMy mom was on her own for a very long time so she was just surviving and doing her best and maybe not totally well-equipped to have and raise a child. But she did it anyway because she wanted me and she loved me to the best of her ability.\u201d<\/p>\n In the book, the 42-year-old actress also spoke about having an abortion as a teenager, her relationship with Taylor Kitsch<\/strong><\/a> on the Friday Night Lights<\/em> set, going through IVF with an unnamed boyfriend and suffering a miscarriage.
