Mabel has “needed a lot of therapy” to cope with the stresses of the music business.<\/p>\n

Mabel has been through therapy sessions<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old star – who is the daughter of producer Cameron McVey and singer Neneh Cherry<\/a> – has admitted that she’s struggled to cope with the pressures of fame and success.<\/p>\n

The pop star told the ‘Miss Me’ podcast: “I needed a lot of therapy.<\/p>\n

“I needed medication. Then everybody\u2019s like, \u2018You\u2019re difficult, you\u2019re emotional, you\u2019re a nightmare\u2019.<\/p>\n

“I don\u2019t know how much fight I have. I\u2019m constantly fighting.<\/p>\n

\n“I love what I do so much, but how long I will fight for? I don\u2019t know, which is really sad.”<\/p>\n

\nMabel feels like she’s received “no real support” since she burst on the music scene.<\/p>\n

\nThe ‘Finders Keepers’ hitmaker also feels frustrated that she’s constantly being compared to her Grammy-nominated mother.<\/p>\n

\nMabel – who released her last album, ‘About Last Night…’, in 2022 – shared: “I think the main problem is that our voices are not heard.<\/p>\n

\n“You add social media on to that, and then you have people judging you.<\/p>\n

\n“Basically, all the time I used to get, \u2018Oh, she\u2019s generic. Her mum was one of a kind and she\u2019s just like a whatever pop star\u2019.<\/p>\n

\n“And I\u2019m like, well, I signed at 18, and I\u2019ve been given no real support. There\u2019s no duty of care. <\/p>\n

\n“I think particularly as a young woman, it\u2019s so easy to get moulded into something, which usually is based on another female. Like, \u2018This person\u2019s done this, so this is what you should do\u2019. And then you get cussed for being generic.<\/p>\n

\n“Then there\u2019s no responsibility from the people that have put you in those positions to help you get out of them.”<\/p>\n
