Aaron Carter\u2019s ex-fianc\u00e9e\u00a0Melanie Martin<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>is speaking out for the first time after his November 5, 2022, death was officially ruled accidental<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>\u200bIn Touch<\/i>\u00a0confirmed on Tuesday, April 18, that the Los Angeles County Coroner\u2019s Office determined that the singer\u2019s cause of death was drowning due to the effects of difluoroethane and alprazolam.<\/p>\n \u201cI am not getting the closure I need because I don\u2019t buy it<\/a>,\u201d Melanie told The U.S. Sun<\/em><\/a>, adding \u201cHe was found with clothing on, the coroner told me, how would he have drowned with clothing on.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI still have a lot more questions I would like answered regarding the police investigation,\u201d Melanie continued.<\/p>\n Aaron and Melanie began dating in 2020 and got engaged<\/a> in June of that year. They welcomed a son, Prince<\/a>, in November 2021. They broke up one week after their baby was born but reconciled the following month. By Feburary 2022, the former couple split again, though they continued to have an on-again, off-again relationship.<\/p>\n According to the coroner\u2019s report, the \u201cI Want Candy Singer,\u201d who died at his Lancaster, California, home,<\/a>\u00a0used difluoroethane \u2013 a gas common in air spray cleaners \u2013 and alprazolam \u2013 which causes drowsiness and sedation \u2013 before getting in the bathtub. The drug combination left him incapacitated, and he became submerged underwater.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Aaron was found unresponsive in the bathtub by his housekeeper and was pronounced dead<\/a> when paramedics arrived at the scene,\u00a0TMZ<\/a> reported on November 6. The former teen heartthrob had battled addiction and mental health issues for years before his death and had done five stints in rehab<\/a> prior to his passing, although he claimed his September 2022 work with a recovery center was to \u201cfight triggers\u201d after being sober for five years.<\/p>\n The \u201cAaron\u2019s Party\u201d singer admitted to The Sun<\/em> in September 2022 that he was taking alprazolam, which is commonly known under the brand name<\/span> Xanax, but said that was part of his \u201cregimented medication\u201d plan, which helped keep him \u201cclean from huffing dust.\u201d<\/p>\n Aaron said his main reason for enrolling in the outpatient program was to stop using marijuana. \u201cI don\u2019t want to smoke weed anymore. I don\u2019t really need to,\u201d he told the publication, adding he had a medicinal marijuana license, but had \u201cthrown away\u201d all the plants he had been growing.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
