Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong><\/a> was overcome with emotion while addressing the Los Angeles wildfires<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em><\/a> host, 57, returned to his late-night ABC slot on Monday, January 13, and opened the show with an emotional monologue about the fires, which began Tuesday, January 7, and continue to burn, decimating homes and displacing thousands of people.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a very scary, very stressful, very strange week here in L.A., where we work, where we live, where our kids go to school,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201cWe are back at our studio, which we had to evacuate.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s our building right there, the El Capitan,\u201d he said, showing footage of a fire near the studio where the show is taped. \u201cThat\u2019s how close this fire was to our theater here. Many of us had to leave our homes in a hurry. Some of our coworkers lost their homes. It\u2019s been terrible.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAs wildfires continue to spread across the Los Angeles area, several celebrities are taking to social media to share how they have been affected. \u201cEvacuated and safe with kids, dog and cats. Praying and grateful for the first responders,\u201d Mandy Moore wrote in a Wednesday, January 8, Instagram Story statement. In a follow-up post, she [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kimmel continued, \u201cEveryone who lives in this city knows someone \u2014 most of us, multiple people \u2014 families, friends, colleagues, neighbors, whose houses burned down. And the truth is we don\u2019t even know if it\u2019s over.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though the fires continue to ravage L.A., the comedian said he was heartened to see so many people coming together during the tragedy.<\/p>\n
