Followers of paparazzi-focused Instagram accounts likely noticed a change in tone last week, as photos of celebrities such as Jennifer Garner<\/strong> and Ben Affleck<\/strong> depicted the stars far from their usual coffee runs<\/a> or shopping trips<\/a>. Instead, paparazzi headed to some of the most dangerous zones<\/a> in fire-afflicted Los Angeles<\/a> in search of the actors, in a move one fellow photojournalist described as \u201cghoulish.\u201d<\/p>\n Parted since 2015<\/a> (and divorced two years later<\/a>) Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck\u2014separately<\/a>, together<\/a>, and everything<\/a> in-between<\/a>\u2014have remained a source of tabloid fascination<\/a>, even during mundane tasks such as walking the dog<\/a> or taking their three kids to school<\/a>. Affleck, especially, is a tabloid standby, with some even musing<\/a> that the actor and director has occasionally cooperated with on-the-street photogs to help them get that lucrative shot.<\/p>\n One might assume that the fires burning across Los Angeles<\/a> would disrupt the paparazzi industry, but you know what they say about assumptions. This is a business, after all, that managed to find a way through the pandemic<\/a>, when the world\u2019s most famous faces were masked and locked down.<\/p>\n These days, the images posted by celebrity news agencies such as Backgrid aren\u2019t coming from photographers camped outside known celebrity watering holes such as Sushi Park<\/a> or Delilah<\/a>. Instead, we\u2019re confronted with photos of Affleck driving a vehicle with a neutral expression, interpreted by a caption writer<\/a> as \u201cBen Affleck opens his eyes widely in shock while driving home from his office and sees a huge wildfire burning across the street from his home in Los Angeles.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s a repositioning that Giles Harrison,<\/strong> owner of the paparazzi agency London Entertainment Group, isn\u2019t completely comfortable with. \u201cWhat these guys are doing, it\u2019s a bit \u2014 I hate to denigrate what I do for a living, but it\u2019s kind of ghoulish,\u201d Harrison tells Vulture<\/a>.<\/p>\n
