Months before news broke that Jessica Alba<\/strong><\/a> and Cash Warren<\/strong><\/a> were reportedly separating<\/a>, the Trigger Warning<\/em> star revealed that there were times when she felt as though the two were just \u201cgoing through the motions.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s all rosy for 2 \u00bd years, but then after that, you become roommates,\u201d Jessica, 43, laughed during an April 2024 appearance on Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt\u2019s<\/strong> \u201cBDA Baby<\/a>\u201d podcast. \u201cAnd it\u2019s just, like, you\u2019re roommates. You\u2019re just going through the motions. It\u2019s the responsibility. It\u2019s a lot of, like, checking the boxes.\u201d<\/p>\n The Honey<\/em> actress added that while she and Cash, 45, tried to schedule regular date nights where they didn\u2019t have their phones so they could \u201cjust talk,\u201d they just weren\u2019t \u201cconsistent.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI would say that being able to communicate when you\u2019re unhappy and nipping it right away instead of letting it sort of, like, fester, and then you have, like, animosity and it explodes,\u201d Jessica continued.<\/p>\n She clarified that she and Cash had actually done that in the past and credited it to how long they had been together.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re on 17 years. He basically stole my 20s and my 30s,\u201d Jessica added. \u201cSo, we have the friendship and the comfort of, like, \u2018You\u2019re not going anywhere,\u2019 and so, sometimes, you don\u2019t treat those people the best. You don\u2019t consider their feelings in the way that you would consider other people\u2019s feelings.\u201d<\/p>\n The Honest Company founder explained that it was something that she \u201cconstantly\u201d worked on, and while that \u201cone night a week date night might be enough\u201d in that moment, it might \u201cnot be enough\u201d down the road.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a life journey,\u201d Jessica admitted. \u201cI think if you\u2019re both, every day, deciding to do it, it\u2019s going to work out regardless of the drama, regardless if anything happens, if you\u2019re both like, \u2018I want this. I want to figure this out,\u2019 nothing can really break that.\u201d<\/p>\n Jessica and Cash met on the set of the 2005 film The Fantastic Four<\/em> when she was cast as Sue Storm and he was working as a director\u2019s assistant. They officially tied the knot in 2008, when Jessica was nine months pregnant with their first child, Honor. Cash and Jessica went on to welcome two more children<\/a> over the next few years.<\/p>\n In December 2024, the Into the Blue<\/em> star was seen in Rome without her wedding ring while out with film producer Andrea Iervolino<\/strong>. Cash was spotted not wearing his ring in January, and rumors began to swirl that the couple was headed for divorce. On January 4, Jessica continued to fuel split rumors when she attended a pre-Golden Globes party and was noticeably not wearing her wedding ring to the event.<\/p>\n On Wednesday, January 8, a source told TMZ<\/em><\/a> that Jessica and Cash had \u201crecently separated, and they\u2019re moving forward with divorce.\u201d The outlet stated that it was \u201cunclear what brought them to the decision to end their nearly 17-year marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n
