Not footage from the news \u2014 just video recorded on phones. Every disaster is just a video on someone\u2019s phone until it\u2019s recorded on your own phone.<\/p>\n
\u201cGrateful for my family and pets getting out last night before it was too late,\u201d she expressed. \u201c(And endless gratitude to friends for taking us in and bringing us clothes and blankets).\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy children\u2019s school is gone,\u201d she noted. Multiple schools have burnt to the ground. \u201cOur favorite restaurants, leveled.\u201d<\/p>\n
She added: \u201cSo many friends and loved ones have lost everything too.\u201d\u00a0It is impossible to know the ultimate toll \u2014 the death, destruction, and more \u2014 while the disaster continues. That\u2019s saying a lot. Unfortunately, the record will almost certainly end up being broken.<\/p>\n
Just as \u201cstorm of the century\u201d hurricanes now happen every few years, these wildfires are becoming more common and more devastating. Climate Change makes everything worse. As a society, we can make things better \u2014 or continue allowing these cataclysms to escalate.<\/p>\n
The residents of Los Angeles are not the only people who have experienced a record-setting disaster in the past few months. They will not be the last to do so this year. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
