More than a 1 homes, businesses, and other buildings have burned, and at least five people are dead in wildfires scorching communities across Los Angeles County<\/a>, making this one of the most destructive firestorms to hit the region in memory.<\/p>\n

As of Wednesday (January 8, 2024), the Pacific Palisades fire had charred more than 11,000 acres in Pacific Palisades, burning down to Pacific Coast Highway, where it engulfed homes along the iconic stretch.<\/p>\n

While red flag warnings will be in effect for Los Angeles County and much of Ventura County until 6 p.m. today.<\/p>\n

While the majority of the news coverage in terms of people losing homes has focused on celebrities, hundreds of \u201cregular\u201d people are now without homes and have lost everything, and businesses have been destroyed.<\/p>\n

Donate to\u00a0Friends in Deed<\/strong><\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0a nonprofit providing services for the homeless, as it opens its Bad Weather Shelter amid the fires.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0California Fire Foundation<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0provides resources to firefighters, fallen firefighters, their families and the communities they serve.<\/p>\n

Donate to Direct Relief\u2019s\u00a0California Fire Relief<\/strong><\/a>, which provides\u00a0N-95 masks, medicine, and resources to health-care agencies and first responders in areas affected by wildfires.<\/p>\n
