Jason Ronald, Microsoft\u2019s VP of \u201cNext Generation,\u201d tells <em>The Verge<\/em> that we should expect to see the Windows handheld gaming experience change within this calendar year. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">Ronald was a roundtable panelist this evening at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/12\/19\/24325072\/lenovo-legion-go-ces-event-valve-microsoft\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an AMD and Lenovo event<\/a> titled \u201cThe Future of Gaming Handhelds,\u201d which was mostly a coming-out party for Lenovo\u2019s new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2025\/1\/7\/24338028\/lenovo-legion-go-s-steam-windows\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Legion Go S<\/a>. Ronald is clearly aware of the issues. \u201cWe\u2019re focused on really simplifying that and making it much more like a console experience. It sounds more like Microsoft wants to make Windows all up better at gaming with an Xbox experience on top so the pesky desktop, notifications, and legacy of Windows is hidden away.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\"> \u201cI think, at the end of the day, our goal is to make Windows great for gaming on any device,\u201d says Ronald. \u201cThe reality is the Xbox operating system is built on top of Windows.
