That was when they made the discovery.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_9-0\">\u201cIt was a really triggering moment for me,\u201d she expressed, \u201cbecause there were a lot of things I discovered in our closet that I did not know existed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_9-0\">Holker admitted: \u201cIt was very alarming to me to learn that there was so much happening that I had no clue [about].\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Ccglme7PjjO\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:540px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\"\/>\n<h2 id=\"h-allison-holker-took-time-to-process-why-her-late-husband-hid-so-much\">Allison Holker took time to process why her late husband hid so much<\/h2>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_9-0\">\u201cIt was a really scary moment in my life to figure that out,\u201d Allison Holker reflected. <\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_9-0\">\u201cBut it also helped me process that he was going through so much and he was hiding so much,\u201d she reasoned. \u201cAnd there must have been a lot of shame in that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Holker spent nine years married to Boss. During that time, she had believed that they had \u201cvery honest\u201d communication about marijuana. This, she reasoned, was \u201cbecause he didn\u2019t want to put it on anyone because he loved everyone so much.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another discovery after his passing were journal entries that alluded to sexual abuse during his childhood.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of her husband\u2019s state of mind, Holker explained: \u201cHe didn\u2019t want other people to take on his pain.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Ce_9ZxQPZPl\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:540px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\"\/>\n<h2 id=\"h-at-first-these-secrets-felt-like-a-betrayal\">At first, these secrets felt like a betrayal<\/h2>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_29-0\">\u201cReading Stephen\u2019s journals \u2026 really gave me a better perspective of where he was in life and the type of things he was struggling with,\u201d Allison Holker explained. \u201cIt did have me feel a lot of empathy towards him and sadness for all the pain that he was holding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Many might have kept their late loved one\u2019s secrets, from the journal entries to the trove of drugs, instead of giving interviews and writing a book about it. (<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/This-Far-Story-Embracing-Light-ebook\/dp\/B0D3W2RVQK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light<\/a><\/em> comes out in February.)<\/p>\n<p>However, Holker is sharing Boss\u2019 struggles and her family\u2019s grief. The reason is that she hopes that others can learn from this.
