Blake Lively<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s lawyers are denouncing \u201cmore attacks\u201d from Justin Baldoni<\/strong><\/a> and his team.<\/span><\/p>\n

The New York Times<\/i> broke the news<\/span><\/a> on December 21 that Lively had sued Baldoni \u2014 her costar and director in the film It Ends With Us<\/i> \u2014\u00a0for sexual harassment. Baldoni denied all allegations against him made in the lawsuit, which was obtained by Us Weekly<\/i><\/span><\/a>, and days later, was among 10 plaintiffs who launched a $250 million lawsuit<\/span><\/a> against The New York Times <\/i>for its coverage of Lively\u2019s accusations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On New Year\u2019s Eve, Lively, 37, filed a lawsuit<\/span><\/a> against Baldoni, 40, in a New York federal court, mirroring her earlier claims that were submitted with the California Civil Rights Department. In addition to Baldoni, Lively is suing publicists Melissa Nathan<\/strong> and Jennifer Abel<\/strong>, as well as Wayfarer Studios, Baldoni\u2019s production company.<\/span><\/p>\n

Attorneys for the actress told People<\/i><\/span><\/a> <\/i>in a statement on Monday, January 6, that Lively\u2019s \u201cserious claims of sexual harassment and retaliation\u201d are \u201cbacked by concrete facts.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBlake Lively and Justin Baldoni\u2019s reported rift made headlines months before the It Ends With Us costars filed lawsuits. While Lively and Baldoni promoted the film in August 2024, rumors began swirling of an alleged feud between the pair. Fans noticed that Lively was promoting the movie with some of her costars while Baldoni, who [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThis is not a \u2018feud\u2019 arising from \u2018creative differences\u2019 or a \u2018he said\/she said\u2019 situation,\u201d the lawyers\u2019 statement read, per the outlet. \u201cAs alleged in Ms. Lively\u2019s complaint, and as we will prove in litigation, Wayfarer [Studios] and its associates engaged in unlawful, retaliatory astroturfing against Ms. Lively for simply trying to protect herself and others on a film set. And their response to the lawsuit has been to launch more attacks against Ms. Lively since her filing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The statement noted: \u201cSexual harassment and retaliation are illegal in every workplace and in every industry. A classic tactic to distract from allegations of this type of misconduct is to \u2018blame the victim\u2019 by suggesting that they invited the conduct, brought it on themselves, misunderstood the intentions, or even lied.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Lively\u2019s team continued, \u201cAnother classic tactic is to reverse the victim and offender, and suggest that the offender is actually the victim. These concepts normalize and trivialize allegations of serious misconduct.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

And in conclusion, they wrote, \u201cMost importantly, media statements are not a defense to Ms. Lively\u2019s legal claims. We will continue to prosecute her claims in federal court, where the rule of law determines who prevails, not hyperbole and threats.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Us Weekly<\/i> reached out to Baldoni\u2019s attorney, Bryan Freedman<\/strong>, for comment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Thursday, January 2, Freedman told NBC News<\/i><\/span><\/a> that he \u201cabsolutely\u201d planned to sue Lively on behalf of his client.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe plan to release every single text message between the two of them,\u201d Freedman told the outlet. \u201cWe want the truth to be out there. We want the documents to be out there. We want people to make their determination based on receipts.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
