The \u2018Heretic\u2019 actor \u2013 who has John, 12, Lulu, eight, and six-year-old Blue with wife Anna Eberstein, and Tabitha, 13, and 11-year-old Felix with former partner Tinglan Hong \u2013 recalled seeing a mysterious \u201cshimmering light\u201d in the middle of the night while staying in an English castle, only to be told by the owner the following day that everyone was aware of the supernatural presence.<\/p>\n
He told Britain\u2019s HELLO! magazine: \u201cI did see a ghost once.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was in a castle in the North of England and had a fight with my girlfriend in the middle of the night.<\/p>\n
“She ran out of the room into the depths of the castle and I went out to see where she had gone.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI stood on the landing at the top of the stairs and suddenly, at my feet, just on the floor, there was a white shimmering light around my feet.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThen it went through me, down the corridor, through a wall into the main bedroom.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe next morning, I said to the woman who owned the castle that I\u2019d seen this thing and she said, \u2018I know \u2013 it\u2019s up there the whole time.\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt was known as the Third Duchess or something.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cLooking back, it was the pattern that one of those big old dresses with a bustle would have made on the floor.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI saw it \u2013 and I wasn\u2019t drunk.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHugh shunned religion in his teens but now finds his local church a good place to escape from the \u201cintense stress\u201d in his life.<\/p>\n
\nHe said:\u201d I was taken to church every Sunday by my parents until I was about 13.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd then I said, this is too boring and nonsense and stopped going for many decades.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd now, in my old age with intense stress with two many children, I sometimes go to the local church in my village in France and sit in there and ask St. Laurence to help me out.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI can see why, the older you get, the more open you are to these possibilities.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cEspecially as, to my horror, I now think there\u2019s probably another dimension.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI don\u2019t want there to be as I can\u2019t cope with the ones we have.\u201d<\/p>\n
