Lulu prefers the spiritual elements of Christmas<\/p>\n
The 76-year-old singer \u2013 who will celebrate the holidays with son Jordan, his wife Alanna and their children Bella, 14, and 12-year-old Teddy \u2013 believes kids get \u201cso much\u201d these days and she\u2019s been trying to hold back on her spending.<\/p>\n
She recently told My Weekly magazine: \u201cWe weren\u2019t well off [when I was young] but if I really wanted a pair of roller skates \u2013 or a bike or pram \u2013 I\u2019d get them.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow, I try to be more aware of the spiritual side of Christmas rather than just being a mad consumer. I\u2019m much less of a consumer now than when I first started to make money in the 1960s.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy memories of Christmas when I Was small was the sock with an apple and an orange \u2013 and not an awful lot else.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI love a satsuma, so I got one of them.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI don\u2019t want to sound like Oliver Twist, but today\u2019s kids get so much.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIf we were lucky, you maybe got a shilling hidden in the toe of the sock.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cOr wait until you got some money out of the Christmas pudding.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe \u2018Shout\u2019 hitmaker is looking forward to spending time with her loved ones and looking back over the last year.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cChristmas, for me, is all about family.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI love the time we get to spend together, relaxing, eating, and just enjoying each other\u2019s company.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt\u2019s a time to reflect on the year, be thankful for what you have, and surround yourself with love and kindness.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI am very traditional when it comes to Christmas \u2013 I love decorating the tree, cooking a big meal and eating mince pies, watching old Christmas movies with the family singing Christmas songs.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cOne of my favourites is \u2018Rockin\u2019 Around the Christmas Tree\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
