Tell Me Lies<\/em><\/a> will continue to push boundaries now that it has been renewed for a third season.<\/p>\n

Based on Carola Lovering<\/strong>\u2018s novel of the same name, Tell Me Lies<\/em> follows the messy relationship between college students Lucy (Grace Van Patten<\/strong>) and Stephen (Jackson White<\/strong>). Their problematic on-and-off romance<\/a> ends up lasting eight years \u2014 and everyone around them is affected by Lucy and Stephen\u2019s ups and downs.<\/p>\n

Season 2 raised the stakes after showcasing Lucy and Stephen\u2019s first breakup. They initially were at odds while trying to move on but the pair reconciled in both the past and present<\/a> timeline while in relationships with other people.<\/p>\n

The drama escalated<\/a> when Lucy and Stephen got back together in college \u2014 and he found out that she had previously hooked up with his friend Evan (Branden Cook<\/strong>). He seemed to take the news well \u2014 until Tell Me Lies<\/em> jumped to the present day during Evan\u2019s wedding to Lucy\u2019s friend Bree (Cat Missal<\/strong>). No one could find Stephen as Cat received a voice message from Evan confessing to cheating on her with Lucy.<\/p>\n

Season 3, which has been ordered by Hulu, is expected to pick up immediately after Cat found out about Lucy\u2019s betrayal. It also remains to be seen whether Lucy breaks things off with Stephen<\/a> for good in the present timeline while viewers keep watching them crash and burn in the past.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always had a sense of where they are in 2015 and what their dynamic is and what secrets everyone is holding. Once you at least know what people know and what they don\u2019t know, that gives you a lot of space to play,\u201d showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> in October 2024 about juggling two timelines. \u201cBut the way that we constructed it is we definitely did the 2008 storyline first in the room. We kind of mapped out the whole season and then we did 2015 as its own thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oppenheimer continued: \u201cI knew where I wanted to end the season, though, in 2015. I knew where it needed to get to.\u201d<\/p>\n

Drew came back into Wrigley\u2019s life at the end of season 2 after a year-long estrangement. Their reunion took a turn when Drew mixed alcohol with some pills Wrigley gave him and ultimately died<\/a> from an overdose.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe does kill him. It\u2019s not on purpose. And people who work on the show will disagree with me, but Wrigley is with his brother at a bar,\u201d House noted to Us<\/em> in October 2024. \u201cHe gives him a pill that he\u2019s not prescribed and it kills him. So he does kill his brother. He doesn\u2019t mean to but that is a thing he\u2019s always going to carry with him for the rest of his life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite flash forwards showing Wrigley in a dark place, House hoped he would get<\/a> to a better place.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow that we\u2019ve done the spiral [with him], I would like to see some sort of path in a positive direction. We know how that ends,\u201d House said to Us in reference to the show\u2019s present day timeline not allowing Wrigley a lot of growth. \u201cHe\u2019s a little bit onto everything that\u2019s going on. It\u2019s up to the writers, but I would love to just do something different than another spiral. I love doing it, but I would like to see hope.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cMaybe in a 2015 storyline you would see if he gets better. But also we don\u2019t spend a lot of time there, so I don\u2019t know how they\u2019re going to do that. I\u2019ll do my job as always, and we\u2019ll see how it goes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Will Bree Call Off the Wedding?<\/h3>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t planned it but I do think that everyone would probably like to see Bree get some sort of revenge,\u201d Oppenheimer teased to Us<\/em> about how Bree will handle the revelation about Evan and Lucy. \u201cBecause she\u2019s really been done dirty by everyone. She deserves that, and she probably wants it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Could Tom Ellis Return as Bree\u2019s Professor?<\/h3>\n

Bree had a secret romance with her professor, which came to an end in season 2. After Bree received calls on her wedding day from a mystery person, the Tell Me Lies<\/em> cast and crew weighed in on whether<\/a> it was Oliver.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know that those voicemails are from Oliver. That\u2019s probably what people think, but I think it\u2019s probably someone more surprising than that,\u201d Oppenheimer told Us.<\/em><\/p>\n

Missal added, \u201cIt\u2019s a little juicy, isn\u2019t it? I\u2019m going to let people have their theories and we\u2019ll kind of see how it plays out. It\u2019s really exciting to not know and be surprised at what happens.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ellis agreed that viewers will have to \u201cwait and see\u201d how the story unfolds.<\/p>\n
