\t\t<\/p>\n Martin Short<\/strong><\/a> was officially inducted into Saturday Night Live<\/strong><\/a><\/em>\u2018s ultra-exclusive Five-Timers Club during this year\u2019s Christmas episode! <\/p>\n The 74-year-old Only Murders in the Building<\/strong><\/a><\/em> actor returned to the popular late-night show on December 21. It marked his fifth time hosting, and he was welcomed into a very exclusive club ahead of his opening monologue. <\/p>\n So many stars joined him for the special occasion. However, his close friend and costar Steve Martin<\/strong><\/a> was absent. Don\u2019t worry: Martin<\/strong> explained why.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Fellow Five-Timers Club members Tom Hanks<\/strong><\/a> Paul Rudd<\/strong><\/a>, Tina Fey<\/strong><\/a>, Alec Baldwin<\/strong><\/a> (who has hosted an amazing 17 times!), Scarlett Johansson<\/strong><\/a>, Kristen Wiig<\/strong><\/a>, Melissa McCarthy<\/strong><\/a>, Emma Stone<\/strong><\/a> and John Mulaney<\/strong><\/a> all joined Martin<\/strong> for the cold open, where he was gifted his official jacket from Jimmy Fallon<\/strong><\/a>, who is not a member of the club.<\/p>\n During his opening monologue, Martin<\/strong> joked about why Steve<\/strong> missed the event: \u201cMy dear friend Steve Martin<\/strong> is also part of the club. He would have been here tonight, but he had a conflict with me not wanting him to be here.\u201d <\/p>\n He also performed a musical number and kissed Jimmy<\/strong>!<\/p>\n What a start to the night.
