Phil Collins: Drummer First<\/a><\/em> documentary debuted on YouTube.<\/p>\n\u201cIt\u2019s still kind of sinking in a bit\u2026\u201d the 73-year-old drummer admitted in an interview, which took place roughly one year ago. \u201cI\u2019ve spent all my life playing drums. However, his 50 year career \u201chas taken its toll on my hands, legs.\u201d<\/p>\n
Of retiring, he commented: \u201cIf I can\u2019t do what I did as well as I did it, I\u2019d rather relax and not do anything.\u201d Many perfectionists can likely relate.<\/p>\n

He noted that, when his father rose to fame, \u201cmusicians, people in bands in general, had this thought that they were invincible.\u201d<\/p>\n
He expressed: \u201cI think that\u2019s really what it is with my dad \u2014 is just this kind of sense of \u2018you\u2019re a drummer, you\u2019re invincible, you do what you do.\u2019 But you don\u2019t know it\u2019s gonna take a toll in the long run.\u201d<\/p>\n

Drop foot specifically makes it difficult to lift the front part of one\u2019s foot (causing it to drop). This not only interferes with drumming, but causes Collins to use a cane to walk.<\/p>\n
Back in the autumn of 2021, Collins admitted: \u201cI\u2019m kind of physically challenged a bit, which is very frustrating \u2019cause, you know, I\u2019d love to be playing up there with my son.\u201d<\/p>\n

After half a century of music, the Tarzan <\/em>composer has more than earned his rest.<\/p>\nOne hopes that his son can take some health lessons from his father\u2019s decline. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
