Theresa Nist<\/strong><\/a> is shocked by some of the men who have slid into her Instagram DMs. While opening up about dating following her split from Gerry Turner<\/strong><\/a>, Theresa admitted that younger guys have messaged her trying to shoot their shot.<\/p>\n \u201cI do get approached through Instagram direct messages, but you wouldn\u2019t believe how young these guys are. They\u2019re so young that they\u2019re younger than my son,\u201d she told People<\/em><\/a>. \u201cThese young guys \u2026 I\u2019m just baffled by it. And they\u2019ll persist and persist and persist. I\u2019m talking 33 year olds.\u201d<\/p>\n Theresa, 71, married Gerry, 73, in January, just months after they got engaged during the finale of The Golden Bachelor<\/em>. However, the two announced in April that they were divorcing and finalized the split in June. Theresa said she hasn\u2019t dated since the divorce, but admitted that she\u2019d be interested in someone who\u2019s \u201cmaybe 10 years younger\u201d than her at most.<\/p>\n \u201cTo me, age \u2026 it doesn\u2019t matter up to a point,\u201d she said. \u201c[But] too young, we are just not culturally the same. We didn\u2019t experience the same things growing up, the same music, the same movies. It\u2019s hard to have a conversation. And I don\u2019t think that anything is too old.\u201d<\/p>\n She said she\u2019s \u201cbeen asked\u201d on dates but has \u201csaid no\u201d to the invitations. \u201cI\u2019m more clear on what I want [now], so I don\u2019t want to waste anyone\u2019s time,\u201d she added. \u201cI definitely do want to be with someone. I do. I think life is so much better when you\u2019re with someone, but I know that it\u2019s even hard for young people to find people. Imagine how much harder it gets. I\u2019m 71. That number scares people.\u201d<\/p>\n When Gerry and Theresa announced their split after just three months of marriage, they cited distance as the main factor behind the breakup. Gerry is from Indiana<\/a>, while Theresa lives in New Jersey, and the two admittedly could not agree on where to live. They had previously considered both relocating to South Carolina, and Gerry even started coming around to the idea of moving to New Jersey himself, but no decision was ever made.<\/p>\n However, in November, Theresa hinted that there was more to the story<\/a>. \u201cYou really can\u2019t know somebody in four weeks,\u201d she said on the \u201cAlmost Famous\u201d podcast. \u201cI\u2019ll say that. That\u2019s all I can say.\u201d She later clarified, \u201cIt\u2019s not something I want to discuss at this point. It\u2019s not just the location thing. That\u2019s all I\u2019ll say.\u201d<\/p>\n
