Ariana DeBose<\/strong><\/a> couldn\u2019t be more excited to make her Marvel debut alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWho doesn\u2019t wanna act opposite that man?\u201d DeBose, 33, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> while chatting about her upcoming film Kraven the Hunter<\/em> on Monday, December 9. \u201cHe\u2019s glorious and glorious in our movie.\u201d<\/p>\n

DeBose also shared her praise for director J. C. Chandor<\/strong>, whom she was a fan of before booking the supervillain flick. \u201cI loved his film Margin Call<\/em>,\u201d she stated. \u201cSo, I thought he had a real understanding of how to potentially take some big risks in a universe, in the Sony Marvel universe, that was already establishing itself, but wanted to try something different.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kraven the Hunter<\/em> tells the origin story of the titular Spider-Man villain (played by Taylor-Johnson) and how he became known as the greatest \u2014 and most vicious \u2014 hunter in the world. The movie marks Taylor-Johnson\u2019s second major Marvel role, having previously appeared as Quicksilver in 2015\u2019s Avengers: Age of Ultron<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAaron Taylor-Johnson is the blueprint thanks to his role of Robbie in the 2008 British film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. When the millennial girlies took over Tumblr back in the day, the gifs of Taylor-Johnson with his Justin Bieber-esque swoop and perfect teenage love story were running rampant. However, for those who grew up [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Playing a character with super strength instead of super speed, DeBose told Us<\/em> that Taylor-Johnson was dedicated to his physical transformation into Kraven (real name Sergei Nikolaevich Kravinoff).<\/p>\n

\u201cI was very much in awe of his commitment,\u201d she shared. \u201cI think to play a character like that, of course, there\u2019s the work that you do as an actor, but it was the first time I\u2019d ever had the opportunity to see up close the level of commitment and dedication that goes into the physical, preparation of, you know, changing your body, building muscle, toning muscle. There\u2019s a real scientific process to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Physique aside, DeBose noted that Taylor-Johnson is \u201calso quite the comedic actor,\u201d adding, \u201cThere was something he did one day in a scene and I don\u2019t know if it actually made the movie, but my God, I was like, \u2018I don\u2019t know how he did that.\u2019 It was just genius. It was great.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Oscar winner, for her part, stars as another famous comic book villain, Calypso, in the film, though DeBose remains tight-lipped about details of her version of the character. \u201cCalypso is such a slippery character, I think, or at least when I read the script, that\u2019s what I took away from it,\u201d she explained. \u201cAnd I liked the idea of playing a character like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAaron Taylor-Johnson and wife Sam Taylor-Johnson made a rare red carpet appearance with her eldest daughters. Aaron, 34, and Sam, 57, went for matching looks while at the New York City premiere of his movie Kraven the Hunter on Tuesday, December 10. The couple were joined by Sam\u2019s daughters Angelica, 27, and Jessie, 18, whom [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While Kraven and Calypso are romantically involved in the comics, DeBose told Us<\/em> their romance isn\u2019t the main focus of their on-screen relationship. \u201cWhat becomes a partnership between him and Calypso, and partnership between men and women on screen that is not always implied to be romantic, I think that can be a rarity in the industry,\u201d she shared. \u201cI was very intrigued by that.\u201d<\/p>\n
