Chad Michael Murray<\/strong><\/a> is bringing holiday cheer to millions in Netflix\u2019s new movie, The Merry Gentlemen<\/em><\/a>, but it almost wasn\u2019t to be.<\/p>\n

The actor, 43, revealed he almost quit acting after starring on One Tree Hill<\/em><\/a> amid his meteoric rise to fame \u2014 and the pressures that came with it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a moment where I was quitting. I was done. I just couldn\u2019t do it anymore. It was right after I left One Tree Hill<\/em>, and it wasn\u2019t because of the fandom,\u201d Murray shared in an interview with Interview Magazine<\/em><\/a> published Wednesday, December 11. \u201cIt was because, when you\u2019re 18 to 25, these formidable years where you\u2019re really cutting your teeth on life experiences and your brain isn\u2019t fully developed, you make mistakes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, gosh, we still screw up when we\u2019re grown-ups. But I think it\u2019s hard for me to see past those moments when you\u2019re not adult enough to understand the scenarios that you\u2019re in,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tChad Michael Murray has found love with wife Sarah Roemer, but his romantic history is full of ups and downs. One of Murray\u2019s most highly publicized relationships was with One Tree Hill costar Sophia Bush. Their characters, Lucas Scott (Murray) and Brooke Davis (Bush) dated on the show as the actors to got closer when [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Murray, who played Lucas Scott on One Tree Hill<\/em> for six seasons, shot to fame after the WB\/CW show premiered in 2003. He followed it up with major movie roles, including Freaky Friday<\/em><\/a> and House of Wax<\/em>. However, the actor said he struggled with being in the spotlight. (Murray had a high-profile relationship with OTH<\/em> costar Sophia Bush<\/strong><\/a> during his time on the show. They got married in 2005 but divorced a year later.)<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was hard for me because there are so many eyeballs on you. And you go to the grocery store and someone points at you, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s the guy that\u2019s on the tabloid, or that\u2019s the guy that did this,\u2019\u201d Murray explained. \u201cEven if they\u2019re not talking about that, sometimes your head goes to a negative place, and I know mine really did. And so I just made a big pivot at that point in my life and said, \u2018You know what? This is not what I want.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Now in his 40s, Murray has a better handle on fame by prioritizing his personal life. The actor has been married to actress Sarah Roemer<\/strong><\/a> since 2015 and the couple share three children.<\/p>\n
