Not his best! Ben Affleck<\/strong><\/a> hilariously recalled being cast in Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/em> <\/a>\u2014 and revealed that his performance was \u201cso bad\u201d it had to be dubbed over with someone else\u2019s voice.<\/p>\n \u201cThe most humiliating thing was one of my earlier parts, I got one line, I had just moved out to L.A., I got a line in a movie and I was playing a basketball player. It was a small film called Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/em>,\u201d Affleck, 50, shared during his Thursday, April 13, appearance on The Late Late Show With James Cordon<\/em><\/a>, referring to the 1992 film which inspired the famous TV series. \u201cI just happened to be playing basketball when a werewolf of vampire ran through and I got scared, \u2019cause he\u2019s scary, and I go, \u2018Take the ball!\u2019 or something like that. And I thought my work was good. I was feeling it. I felt authentically afraid.\u201d<\/p>\n The Justice League<\/em> star shared that he was asked to run the scene \u201ca bunch of times,\u201d but chalked it up to director Fran Rubel Kuzui<\/strong> being \u201crigorous\u201d until he went to go see the film himself \u2014 and realized something wasn\u2019t quite right.<\/p>\n \u201cI went and saw the movie with some friends and I sounded very different,\u201d he quipped. \u201cAnd I realized right then that they rerecorded my lines. I was so bad, they needed me to be in the scene but the director was just like, \u2018I can\u2019t hear the voice again!\u2019 They had to pay someone to come in and say, \u2018Hey man, take it.\u2019 Because apparently, I couldn\u2019t say that convincingly enough.\u201d<\/p>\n While it wasn\u2019t his best moment, Affleck, who is currently promoting his latest film Air<\/em>, showed he had a sense of humor about the incident and joked that the dub \u201csounds like Chris Tucker<\/strong><\/a>\u201d as host James Corden<\/strong><\/a> played a clip from the film.<\/p>\n The Massachusetts native \u2014 who has since proved his talent in critically acclaimed films including Good Will Hunting, Agro, Dogma<\/em> and more \u2014 is used to taking his less-than-impressive movie moments in stride. In January 2022, he told Entertainment Weekly<\/em> he was thankful for his role in 2002\u2019s Gigli<\/em> \u2014 in which he starred opposite now-wife Jennifer Lopez<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 despite the rom-com being a box office flop.<\/p>\n \u201cInterestingly, I learned more about directing on that movie than anything else because\u00a0Marty [Brest]<\/strong> is a brilliant director, really gifted,\u201d he explained. \u201cIt\u2019s not like it\u2019s worse than all \u2026 there\u2019s a bunch of horrible movies and in terms of losing money, I\u2019ve had five movies \u2014 at least! \u2014 that have lost more money than\u00a0Gigli\u00a0<\/em>has.\u201d<\/p>\n The Shakespeare in Love<\/em> star added that he was grateful the movie introduced him to the art of directing \u2014 and to 53-year-old Lopez. \u201cIf the reaction to Gigli<\/em>\u00a0hadn\u2019t happened, I probably wouldn\u2019t have ultimately decided, \u2018I don\u2019t really have any other avenue but to direct movies,\u2019 which has turned out to be the real love of my professional life,\u201d he said. \u201cSo, in those ways, it\u2019s a gift. And I did get to meet Jennifer, the relationship with whom has been really meaningful to me in my life<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cWaiting for Tonight\u201d singer, for her part, joked that she\u2019d love to make a Gigli<\/em> sequel if given the opportunity. When asked who makes her laugh the most between takes during Vogue\u2019s<\/em> \u201c73 Questions\u201d in 2022, she replied, \u201cMy husband, Ben.\u201d (The pair were first linked in the early \u201800s, getting engaged in November 2022 but ultimately calling it quits less than a year later. They rekindled their romance<\/a> in 2021.)<\/p>\n The couple, who tied the knot in two separate ceremonies last year, haven\u2019t worked together<\/a> since they collaborated on 2004\u2019s Jersey Girl,<\/em> but are slated to pair up for Unstoppable,<\/em> a biopic produced by Affleck and pal Matt Damon\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> production company and is set to have Lopez as the lead.<\/p>\n For now, however, the Marry Me<\/em> actress is helping her beau out behind the scenes. Affleck revealed in March that his wife helped him with the script<\/a> for Air<\/em>, which tells the story of Michael Jordan\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> sneaker deal with Nike.<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s brilliant,\u201d he gushed to ET<\/em> of Lopez at the time. \u201c[She] helps me in every conceivable way<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
