Ciara<\/strong><\/a> is looking for the next dancing icon.<\/p>\n

The \u201cLevel Up\u201d singer, 39, has launched \u201cDance Icon<\/a>\u201d \u2014 in partnership with Colossal<\/a> \u2014 an online, dancing fundraiser competition where people can vote to give an unknown dancer their big break. The winner will get to appear in Ciara\u2019s newest music video and take home $20,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cI identify with the power of dance and how it inspires others. I thought \u2018Dance Icon\u2019 would be such a fun way to engage with the world of dancers out there,\u201d Ciara shared in an exclusive statement to Us Weekly<\/em> on Monday, December 9. \u201cI know firsthand that really amazing things happen when the dance community unites, and I\u2019m looking forward to realizing the impact we\u2019re capable of when we come together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ciara\u2019s resume proves she\u2019s the perfect choice to lead the competition. She released her hit single \u201cGoodies\u201d and album of the same in 2004, which became her first No. 1 single and topped Billboard\u2019s Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks. In 2006, she won a Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video for Missy Elliot<\/strong>\u2018s \u201cLose Control,\u201d which she was featured on. Most recently, Ciara released \u201cWassup\u201d with Busta Rhymes<\/strong> in September and a 20th anniversary vinyl of the album Goodies.<\/em><\/p>\n

However, in addition to her accomplishments vocally, the \u201c1,2 Step\u201d singer is also known for her killer dance moves: she\u2019s won three Soul Train Awards in the Best Dance Performance category in 2010, 2013 and 2018.<\/p>\n

\u201cDancing allows me to express my truest creative self,\u201d Ciara told Us<\/em> on Monday. \u201cI love dancing to upbeat tempos, but ultimately it\u2019s the music that inspires how I move. Whether fast or slow \u2014 whenever I start to dance, I feel something special happening and that something allows me to be fully free in the music.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dance Icon will benefit the Why Not You Foundation<\/a>, Ciara and her husband, Russell Wilson<\/strong>\u2019<\/a>s nonprofit that supports student access to equal education opportunities, children\u2019s health and food security initiatives.<\/p>\n
