Patrick Mahomes<\/strong><\/a> gushed about his friendship with Travis Kelce<\/strong><\/a> after the pair connected for a crucial completion on the Kansas City Chiefs\u2019 game-winning drive on Sunday, December 8.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe means the world to me, man,\u201d Mahomes, 29, told reporters<\/a> of Kelce after the team\u2019s 19-17 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. \u201cWithout getting emotional, he\u2019s a guy that has really kind of made me who I am in my career.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In the final minutes of Sunday\u2019s game at Kansas City\u2019s Arrowhead Stadium, Mahomes found Kelce, 35, for a vital third down completion that set up kicker Matthew Wright<\/strong>\u2019s game-winning 31-yard field goal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cA true leader on the football field,\u201d Mahomes continued about Kelce. \u201cSomeone I can just go to at any moment and he\u2019s going to make a big play happen. As he\u2019s done throughout his career, he\u2019s never dropped off as far as his work ethic and the way he leads. I think that\u2019s super important.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Kelce has been the Kansas City Chiefs\u2019 top tight end since 2013, four years before Patrick Mahomes signed with the Missouri team as a quarterback. \u201cObviously, I get here at the beginning of [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In Kelce\u2019s 12th year in the NFL, Mahomes called the tight end \u201cthe hardest working dude on the team.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe plays on the same wavelength that I do,\u201d Mahomes added. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to do that. It takes guys time. But from the first day, I\u2019ve kind of been on that same page with Trav. Seeing him work every day \u2014\u00a0 everybody sees the personality on the TV and stuff like that \u2014 but you don\u2019t see that every day work ethic that he has. He\u2019s the guy that gets mad when they take him out of practice routes.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the praise, it hasn\u2019t exactly been a picture perfect season<\/a> for Mahomes and Kelce, who have still only connected on two touchdowns as their schedule enters its final stretch.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
