President-elect Donald Trump<\/strong> plans to pardon Jan. 6<\/a> rioters on his first day back in the White House, according to a new exclusive interview<\/a> with NBC\u2019s Kristen Welker<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The Meet the Press<\/em> host sat down with the former and future president on Friday, before he traveled<\/a> to Paris to meet with other world leaders. In the interview, which aired Sunday morning, Trump said he would \u201cbe acting very quickly\u201d for the hundreds of individuals who participated in the United States Capitol attack<\/a> in 2021.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m looking first day,\u201d Trump said when Welker asked when he planned on granting clemency to the more than 900 people who pleaded guilty to crimes<\/a>. \u201cThese people have been there, how long has it been, three or four years, you know, by the way, they\u2019ve been in there for years. And they\u2019re in a filthy, disgusting place that shouldn\u2019t even be allowed to be open.\u201d<\/p>\n Trump has previously referred to some Jan. 6 rioters<\/a> as \u201chostages\u201d being mistreated by the Justice Department\u2014though it\u2019s unclear exactly who he is speaking about.<\/p>\n
