Fans of the popular early aughts show One Tree Hill<\/em><\/a> are in for a treat! A sequel series is in development with some of the show\u2019s main stars<\/a> set to return, and fans are dying to know more about the project.\n<\/p>\n News of the One Tree Hill<\/em> reboot leaked in August 2024. The following month, Hilarie Burton<\/strong> revealed more details about the upcoming project. Along with Hilarie, who starred as Payton Sawyer in the original, Sophia Bush<\/strong><\/a> will be teaming up with her old costar as executive producers of the series.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat I can say is that this go-around, being able to work with a team of women and look at these stories [and] these characters through a female lens is something that \u2014 whether I was doing a reboot or a brand new show or a different movie at this phase in my life, female teamwork is something that is so vital to me,\u201d Hilarie told People<\/em><\/a> in an interview published on September 20, 2024.<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cIt is the core of anything I\u2019ve done that\u2019s successful. So I\u2019m excited to be able to team up with people that I look up to, people that I love dearly.\u201d<\/p>\n In an episode of Hilarie and Sophia\u2019s podcast, \u201cDrama Queens<\/a>,\u201d Sophia said that she \u201cwished that the news hadn\u2019t leaked,\u201d but understood that \u201cit happens.\u201d<\/p>\n While a full cast list hasn\u2019t been released, Danneel Ackle<\/strong>s has been confirmed to reprise her role as Rachel Gatina, along with Hilarie as Payton and Sophia as Brooke Davis<\/a>. In November 2024, Chad Michael Murray<\/strong>, who played Lucas Scott, revealed he wasn\u2019t opposed to returning to the series if he was asked.<\/p>\n \u201cI want that show to happen,\u201d Chad told E! News<\/em><\/a> on November 18, 2024. \u201cI don\u2019t know what will happen with me.\u201d<\/p>\n Chad and Hilarie\u2019s characters married and rode off into the sunset at the end of season 6. Chad made a guest appearance in One Tree Hill\u2019s<\/em> final season, but Hilarie never returned. She previously claimed that she and Chad weren\u2019t invited to return for season 7 during a May 2024 episode of \u201cDrama Queens<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cChad looks at me and he\u2019s like, \u2018Have you even gotten an offer? I was like, \u2018No,\u2019 and he\u2019s like, \u2018I haven\u2019t gotten an offer,\u2019\u201d Hilarie said, recalling the moment producer Greg Prange<\/strong> announced the show had been picked up for season 7. \u201cAnd so around us, everyone is hugging and high-fiving. I mean, it felt like balloons were dropping from the ceiling. Everybody was so f\u2013king pumped. And he and I just kind of sat there and we knew it was coming.
