Fire Country<\/em> just made Bode and Gabriela\u2019s romantic future even more unclear after introducing a shocking hookup.<\/p>\n

During the Friday, December 6, episode of the hit CBS series, Bode (Max Thieriot<\/strong><\/a>) and Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila<\/strong>) were both dealing with the ramifications of their split \u2014 but in two very different ways<\/a>. Bode threw himself into work as he prepared to graduate from the Cal Fire training program. Gabriela, meanwhile, continued her downward spiral and to the concern of Sharon (Diane Farr<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Bode ultimately passed the program and officially became a firefighter<\/a>, celebrating the news by cooking dinner for him and newly single fellow cadet Audrey (Leven Rambin<\/strong>). The pair got very flirty, but stopped short of taking their relationship any further. Instead, the final moments of the episode focused on Gabriela hanging out at the bar with her ex, Jake (Jordan Calloway<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything with me has been too much these days,\u201d Gabriela admitted to Jake about her recent emotional turmoil. \u201cWorking, drinking so I couldn\u2019t feel and then cliff-diving so that I could feel something \u2014 even if it was just the smack of the ocean. Maybe I am too much.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jake, for his part, admitted that he was dealing with his own<\/a> issues.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am losing [my late girlfriend\u2019s daughter] Gene to [her biological father] Rick,\u201d Jake revealed. \u201cRick called and Gene wants to stay in Idaho, she wants to enroll [in school] and she wants me to ship her stuff. I keep telling myself that it will make it real but I think I really want to stay in shock or I might just lose it.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Jake urged Gabriela to \u201cchange the subject,\u201d the paramedic brought up their romantic history<\/a>, saying, \u201cCan you believe we were here not too long ago at this bar and I said I love you? It seems like a million years ago. We had good times though.\u201d<\/p>\n

The episode ended with Gabriela and Jake having sex in his car outside of Smokey\u2019s Tavern. While fans were concerned about Bode\u2019s budding friendship with Audrey, it\u2019s safe to say that no one saw<\/a> Gabriela and Jake\u2019s reconciliation coming.<\/p>\n

In season 1, which premiered in 2021, Gabriela formed a connection<\/a> with Bode while dating Jake. Gabriela ended her relationship with Jake to wait for Bode until he was released from the California Conservation Camp Program. Bode broke things off when he was sent back to prison, and by the beginning of the second season Gabriela was engaged to Diego.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCBS\u2019 Fire Country isn\u2019t just a show about inmates fighting fires \u2014 there\u2019s an impressive guest star list as well. The show, which premiered in 2022, follows Bode (Max Thieriot) as he gets a chance to shorten his prison sentence by volunteering for the California Conservation Camp Program. Bode gets assigned to his hometown where [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Season 3 quickly wrapped up Gabriela\u2019s relationship with Diego before they got married \u2014 but that didn\u2019t mean she was ready to be with Bode.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThere will always be love and you will always feel that,\u201d Arcila, 34, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> in October regarding Bode and Gabriela\u2019s new dynamic. \u201cMost relationships \u2014 most long-lasting relationships \u2014 start off with friendships. You get to know each other and build that relationship outside of it. This is going to be a great opportunity for them to get to know each other in a different place in their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Arcila went on to defend Gabriela\u2019s decision not to rush into anything<\/a> with Bode.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s important for anyone in any relationship \u2014 and for people seeing it from the outside \u2014 to see the battle between your mind and your heart and what should be and what shouldn\u2019t be. All of that is so human,\u201d she said of Gabriela\u2019s conflicting feelings. \u201cSociety has built these fairy-tale stories, especially for women. The fact that people get to see Gabriella question things and not know where she\u2019s going is a beautiful part of the story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Arcila continued: \u201cA lot of people are angry and a lot of people are like, \u2018Wait, what\u2019s going on? What are you going to do? What is this?\u2019 But at the end of the day, we\u2019re just all perfectly flawed humans. \u2026 There\u2019s going to be lots of changes. This is a season that definitely shows her imperfections, which I\u2019m so excited for because we\u2019re all human. We\u2019re not perfect. We make mistakes and we all deserve forgiveness and redemption. So, this is a story about redemption.\u201d<\/p>\n
