Veteran actor Dick Van Dyke<\/strong><\/a> is soon set to celebrate his 99th birthday \u2013 and he\u2019s marking the occasion with a guest TV appearance.<\/p>\n

The Mary Poppins star, who will turn 99 on Friday, December 13, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> on Thursday, December 5.<\/p>\n

Van Dyke was joined by Chris Martin<\/strong> for the TV appearance to chat about Coldplay\u2019s new music video for \u201cAll My Love\u201d, in which the actor appears in with his son, Barry<\/strong>, 73.<\/p>\n

Sharing a funny moment on set, Martin, 47, recalled witnessing the father-son dynamic between Dick and Barry.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDick Van Dyke is in good spirits after canceling a string of public appearances. Van Dyke, 98, was spotted running errands with a helper in Malibu, California, on Monday, September 23. In video footage published by Page Six,\u00a0the Hollywood legend smiled as he walked through a parking lot with a cane.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m pretty old,\u201d Van [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI saw Barry come up to Dick and say, \u2018Dad, can I turn the pool slide on?\u2019\u201d Martin said. \u201cIt was so sweet because it was like a son and his dad. But they\u2019re collectively 176 [years old],\u201d<\/p>\n

Continuing the conversation of what it\u2019s like being a parent to elderly children, Van Dyke acknowledged the advanced age of his children. (Dyke is also father to Christian<\/strong>, 74, Stacy<\/strong>, 68, and Carrie,<\/strong> 62, all of whom he shared with his late ex-wife Margie Willett).\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m old enough to be Joe Biden<\/strong>\u2019s father,\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Van Dyke said in jest that he hoped to be still alive to celebrate his 99th birthday.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m pretty old,\u201d Van Dyke told a photographer in September, per Page Six.<\/em><\/p>\n

When asked if he had any plans to celebrate his birthday in December, he joked, \u201cJust praying that I make it.\u201d<\/p>\n

That same month Van Dyke sparked concerns after canceling<\/a> a string of planned appearances, including a Utah-based fan convention.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are sorry to announce that Dick Van Dyke is not able to travel to FanX,\u201d read a statement from FanX, the company hosting the three-day event. \u201cHe expresses his gratitude to all of those who continue to support him but, at almost 99 years of age, traveling and interacting with thousands of people is more than he is able to do at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also pulled out<\/a> of the 2024 Emmy Awards on September 15 despite plans for him to be one of the night\u2019s celebrity presenters.<\/p>\n

However, he did attend the 2024 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on September 7 where his CBS special, Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic, won the award for Outstanding Variety Special.<\/p>\n

As well as joking he was \u201cstill looking for work\u201d, Van Dyke shared his hope that his legacy would be \u201claughter\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor making people laugh for 75 years,\u201d he told reporters of what he wanted to be remembered for. \u201cI\u2019ve been in the business for 75 years, I can\u2019t believe it that I\u2019m still here and performing!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA star of both stage and screen, Dick Van Dyke has endeared himself to generations of fans. Van Dyke \u2014 who has four Emmys, one Grammy and a Tony Award to his name \u2014 married Arlene Silver in 2012. During a February 2023 interview with Yahoo! Music, the Mary Poppins star joked that \u201chaving a [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Van Dyke also flexed his funny bone during a speech at the Daytime Emmy Awards in June when he made history to become the oldest ever winner.<\/p>\n
