For Yellowjackets<\/em>\u2018 Warren Kole<\/strong>, working with an intimacy coordinator alongside TV wife Melanie Lynskey<\/strong><\/a> has been a \u201cwelcome surprise.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t know how much I would have liked that until it arrived,\u201d the actor, 45, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> while representing the Showtime series at PaleyFest in L.A. on April 3. \u201cIt takes pressure off. As a man sometimes it\u2019s like you\u2019re terrified. Like, I don\u2019t want to offend anybody. I don\u2019t want to overstep. But I also don\u2019t want to betray what\u2019s written. When you have a third party come in, now you can have a proxy to work all that out.\u201d<\/p>\n Kole and Lynskey, 45, play Jeff and Shauna, respectively, on the dark psychological thriller, which debuted in 2021. Currently in its second season, the actors have collaborated on intense sex scenes onscreen.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s really great actually. Warren and I trust each other so much and we\u2019re able to come up with the most interesting version of the scene because there\u2019s such trust that neither of us are going to be weird in any way,\u201d Lynskey told Us<\/em> at PaleyFest.<\/a> \u201cWe really love each other. And so we really coordinated it together. The intimacy coordinator was just like, \u2018This is great! This is so exciting!\u2019 She\u2019s wonderful and I love that she\u2019s there for our whole cast.\u201d<\/p>\n Working with the Togetherness<\/em> alum has been a \u201cdream\u201d<\/a> for Kole. \u201cShe\u2019s [at] the top of her game,\u201d he gushed. \u201cI am very, very lucky.\u201d<\/p>\n Their characters\u2019 dynamic is a different story, however. Kole describes Jeff and Shauna as \u201ccomplicated\u201d as they continue to coverup Shauna\u2019s affair and accidentally killing her lover.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it can either explode before someone runs away or self-implodes or somehow, they can start understanding. Because it seems like there are times where both Jeff and Shauna don\u2019t know why she\u2019s doing this. Like, \u2018Why are you doing that?\u2019 \u2018I don\u2019t know.\u2019 That\u2019s a tough spot,\u201d Kole told Us<\/em>. \u201cThey can balance each other out in a kind of common mission to get away with what\u2019s happening.\u201d<\/p>\n The Shades of Blue<\/em> alum thinks that Jeff \u201ccertainly would want\u201d the pair to stay together though. \u201cHe thinks that she can still be safe. She can still be pulled back from the abyss that she\u2019s quickly descending into,\u201d he explained. \u201cBut the potential there is really what creates so much tension in the show.\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n In real life, Lynskey is married to Jason Ritter<\/strong><\/a>, who is expected to make a guest spot appearance in an upcoming episode. Although the two were not on set at the same time, Lynskey heard all about Ritter, 43, bonding with her costars<\/a> \u2014 and a little bit too much if you asked her.<\/p>\n \u201cI came back to work, and everybody was like, \u2018Your husband\u2019s the nicest person in the world. He\u2019s our favorite.\u2019<\/a> And I think previously I felt like I was some people\u2019s favorite,\u201d she teased to Us<\/em>. \u201cIt was a little bit of a heartbreak. Everyone was like, \u2018We still love you.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018I know he\u2019s nicer. He\u2019s nicer than me. He\u2019s easier to be around. He never complains.\u2019 So he became the new favorite. It was hard for me to give up the title, but I was also happy.\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n As of now, the Ashley Lyle<\/strong> and Bart Nickerson<\/strong>-created series is expected to be five seasons. \u201cWe feel like we\u2019re still on track for that,\u201d Lyle told Entertainment Weekly<\/em> in March.<\/p>\n Kole hopes the plan sticks. \u201cI want this show to go as far as the creative flow is still exciting and happening,\u201d he told Us<\/em>. \u201cBecause you can always tell when it\u2019s like, \u2018OK, I guess we\u2019re out of ideas here.\u2019 This show isn\u2019t close to that yet.\u201d<\/p>\n Yellowjackets<\/em> airs on Showtime<\/a> Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n![\"Yellowjackets'](\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/yellowjackets-warren-kole-reflects-on-filming-sex-scenes-with-melanie-lynskey-1.jpg?w=700&quality=86&strip=all\")
