Oscar Isaac<\/strong><\/a> initially wasn\u2019t sold on the idea of Timothee Chalamet<\/strong><\/a> playing Bob Dylan<\/strong><\/a>!<\/p>\n If you didn\u2019t know, Timothee<\/strong>, 28, will be playing a younger version of the 83-year-old folk music icon in the upcoming movie A Complete Unknown<\/strong><\/a><\/em> directed by James Mangold<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n While presenting Timothee<\/strong> and James<\/strong> with the Visionary Tribute Award at the 2024 Gotham Awards, Oscar<\/strong>, 45, admitted that he thought that Timothee<\/strong> playing Bob Dylan<\/strong> was a \u201creally bad idea.\u201d<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span>Oscar<\/strong> recalled working with Timothee<\/strong> on the 2021 movie Dune: Part One<\/em> when Timothee<\/strong> first told him and costars Josh Brolin<\/strong><\/a> and Stephen McKinley Henderson<\/strong><\/a> about the Bob Dylan<\/strong> biopic.<\/p>\n \u201cHe starts telling us about his next project he was working on. A movie with the wonderful director James Mangold about a young Bob Dylan coming to New York in 1961,\u201d Oscar<\/strong> said. \u201cAnd my first thought, \u2018It sounds like a really bad idea.\u2019 I mean, it\u2019s Dylan. It\u2019s the holy of holies for me. It just didn\u2019t sound right.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThen Timmy takes out his guitar \u2014 not a good sign \u2014 and starts playing \u2018Girl from the North Country,\u2019\u201d Oscar<\/strong> continued. \u201cNow, this is a song I know deeply, to my core, and Josh, Steven and I, we\u2019re not your average Timmy Chalamet groupies. We\u2019re grizzled movie vets. We\u2019ve seen some s\u2013t.\u201d<\/p>\n Even though Oscar<\/strong> estimated that Timothee<\/strong> \u201chad just started learning the guitar\u201d and how to sing at that time, he believed that the Wonka<\/em> actor approached Bob Dylan<\/strong>\u2018s music \u201cnot as if he was learning something new but as if he was remembering something he\u2019d always known, just rediscovering it.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI look over at a wide-smiling Steven, and he just says, \u2018Yeah, baby,\u2019 and the three of us just sat there watching this young man connect with something mysterious,\u201d Oscar<\/strong> shared. \u201cAnd that is the nature of folk music.
