The 31-year-old star portrays Glinda in new musical \u2018Wicked\u2019 and she recognised the similarities between the relationship her character has with the citizens of Oz because of the connection she has with her own devotees.<\/p>\n
She told Britain\u2019s OK! magazine: \u201cIn Glinda, what resonates with me most is her want to become better and better.<\/p>\n
\u201cHer relationship with the Ozians is an interesting one for me.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt feels a little bit adjacent to my relationship with my fans throughout the years.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI feel like I\u2019m walking a particular line and wanting to give them the best of me \u2013 but also, at times, my heart has needed some healing and some love and TLC.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI think that is something that I\u2019ve felt multiple times in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAriana believes that, at its heart, the story of \u2018Wicked\u2019 carries a number of important messages that should strike a chord in the modern world.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cIt\u2019s a very timely and yet timeless theme for evil forces to be trying to ostracise certain people or group people together or cause division.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd I think that friendship, love and family \u2013 whether it\u2019s by blood or chosen family \u2013 these platonic friendships, these deep loves that we\u2019ve found in each other and our people have always been the thing that help us survive that.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe \u2018Thank U, Next\u2019 hitmaker\u2019s \u2018Wicked\u2019 co-star Cynthia Erivo agreed.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cI think it couldn\u2019t be more perfect. I think we arrived right on time.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI think it\u2019s something that we all desperately need; connection friendship, the capacity for change, the capacity to accept others and their differences.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cHopefully this will aid that and teach people things they might have not been willing to learn before.\u201d<\/p>\n
