The actress, 52, was hitched to actor Scott Foley, 52, from 2000 to 2004 and Ben Affleck<\/a>, also 52, from 2005 to 2018, and the two-time divorcee has now opened up about what she thinks the biggest mistake is females can make when it comes to settling down.<\/p>\n

She said on the \u2018Lipstick on the Rim\u2019 podcast when asked to detail her \u201cfavourite quote or mantra\u201d: \u201cNever expect a man\u2026 don\u2019t marry a man thinking you can change him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jennifer added the advice came from her mother Patricia Garner.<\/p>\n

She also shared more \u201cvintage Pat Garner\u201d sayings on the podcast, but said \u201cthey all come from Mrs Ingalls from \u2018Little House on the Prairie\u2019 or \u2018Anne of Green Gables\u2019 or all of the above\u201d.<\/p>\n

\nJennifer added two of her favourite bits of other advice from her mum included: \u201cWeeping may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning\u201d, and \u201cHappiness is your own responsibility.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nJennifer, who has had an on-off relationship with businessman John Miller since 2018, did not speak about either of her marriages during the podcast.<\/p>\n

\nShe has said her relationship with Scott failed due to Hollywood, saying they \u201cwould probably still be together\u201d if it hadn\u2019t been for their \u201cfast-lane life\u201d.<\/p>\n

\nJennifer opened up about \u2018Good Will Hunting\u2019 star Ben to Vanity Fair in 2016, saying he was a \u201ccomplicated guy\u201d.<\/p>\n

\nShe added: \u201cI always say, \u2018When his sun shines on you, you feel it\u2019. But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it\u2019s cold. He can cast quite a shadow.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nEven though she didn\u2019t open up about her and Ben on the podcast, she did agree with co-hosts Molly Sims and Emese Gormley when they praised her and the actor\u2019s three children Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, as \u201cresilient\u201d and \u201camazing\u201d kids.<\/p>\n
