Jana Kramer<\/strong><\/a> has wanted to be on The Masked Singer<\/em><\/a> since it debuted in 2019 \u2014 but her husband, Allan Russell<\/a><\/strong>, was somewhat more skeptical of the singing competition show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was so thrilled when I got the text, I was sitting there with my husband<\/a> on the couch,\u201d Kramer, 40, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> ahead of her Thursday, November 28, elimination from the Fox series. \u201cI just started screaming, and my husband\u2019s like, \u2018What?\u2019 And I\u2019m like, \u2018I just got offered The Masked Singer<\/em>.\u2019 And he\u2019s like, \u2018The what?\u2019 And I\u2019m like, \u2018The Masked Singer<\/em>. You don\u2019t know what that is?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Kramer \u2014 whose costume was the Royal Knight \u2014 went on to show Russell, 43, clips of the show, which she often watches with her kids, but he was still a bit thrown by footage of contestants performing in enormous, elaborate costumes.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s like, \u2018And you wanna do that?\u2019\u201d Kramer recalled. \u201cAnd I\u2019m like, \u2018Yes, I do. Like 1,000 percent!\u2019 He was confused \u2026 but I was so, so thrilled.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Russell was not up to date on Masked Singer lore, Kramer\u2019s children were fully on board with her decision to do the show \u2014 and nearly blew up her spot with their friends. (Kramer shares daughter Jolie, 8, and son Jace, 5, with ex-husband Mike Caussin<\/strong><\/a>, while she and Russell welcomed son Roman<\/a> in November 2023.)<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were telling their friends at school, they were saying, \u2018Hey, you should really watch The Masked Singer<\/em>,\u2019\u201d Kramer said with a laugh. \u201cAnd I was like, \u2018Jolie, you can\u2019t say that. You can\u2019t tell them that it\u2019s Mommy.\u2019 She was like, \u2018I\u2019m not, Mommy! I\u2019m just saying, \u2018You know, you should really watch it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

While Kramer\u2019s kids have always known it was their mom under the Royal Knight mask, her other family members weren\u2019t in the know \u2014 and she was excited to finally spill the beans with this week\u2019s special Thanksgiving episode. One person, however, guessed right away that Kramer was on the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy sister-in-law texted me last week and was like, \u2018When are you gonna tell us that you have an alter ego named the Royal Knight?\u2019\u201d the \u201cWhine Down\u201d host shared. \u201cSo they were slowly figuring it out, and most of the time I just played silly.\u201d<\/p>\n
