After locking horns in one of Hollywood\u2019s nastiest divorces, Kelly Clarkso<\/a><\/strong>n and ex husband Brandon Blackstock<\/strong> are back on civil terms, a source exclusively tells Life & Style<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n The couple, who split in 2020, are \u201cbeing more amicable now and coparenting with consideration,\u201d according to the source. \u201cThey probably won\u2019t be breaking bread, but they can see eye to eye about the kids and are generally pleasant to one another.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The \u201cBecause of You\u201d singer, 42, and her music manager ex, 47, first met in 2006. It was love at first sight, at least for Kelly, as she told People<\/em><\/a> in October 2013, \u201cI\u2019ve only had three other boyfriends that I dated, and not really seriously. This guy walks by, making everybody laugh. I said, \u2018I\u2019m gonna end up with him<\/a>. I know it.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cLiterally, I\u2019m not joking, he walked past us at that time,\u201d she continued, \u201cI just felt something.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Though Brandon was married to Melissa Ashworth<\/strong> at the time, he divorced his wife in 2012, paving the way for a relationship with the smitten singer after reconnecting at that year\u2019s Super Bowl \u2013 with Kelly singing the national anthem and Brandon\u2019s client, Blake Shelton<\/strong>, performing at the same event.<\/span><\/p>\n The American Idol<\/em> alum even joked in 2017 that she wasn\u2019t nervous about the millions of viewers watching her Super Bowl performance, but \u201cdidn\u2019t want to suck because I was trying to impress a guy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI wanted him to be like, \u2018Damn.\u2019 It had nothing to do with the Super Bowl.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n And \u201cdamn\u201d Brandon was. Speaking to host Angie Martinez<\/strong> on the \u201cIRL\u201d podcast in March 2023, Kelly said their split, \u201cwasn\u2019t an overnight decision,\u201d and that \u201cthere were many emotions. It was hard.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI wanted to make it beautiful. I wanted to make it awesome.
