So many TV shows have a classic Thanksgiving episode, and while some are heartwarming and wholesome, others are decidedly less so. In fact, the best Thanksgiving episodes of all time feature a dysfunctional family dinner.<\/p>\n

10. \u2018This Is Us\u2019 Season 1, Episode 8: \u2018Pilgrim Rick\u2019<\/h3>\n

In no world are we ever, ever going to call Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia<\/strong>) unhinged. The man was a perfect husband and father. However, Us<\/em> would be remiss if there was no baseline when it came to normal TV families. It only goes downhill from here. Yes, both Jack and Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore<\/strong>) had some issues with their own family, but that almost never came into play with their own three kids.<\/p>\n

This episode, which originally aired in November 2016, did start with bickering on the part of the Pearson family as they head to Rebecca\u2019s parents\u2019 house for Thanksgiving. After a fight with Rebecca\u2019s parents, she reroutes the family to a motel run by a man called Pilgrim Rick. Back in modern day, Randall (Sterling K. Brown<\/strong>) hosts Thanksgiving for his whole family.<\/p>\n

9. \u2018It\u2019s Always Sunny in Philadelphia\u2019 Season 9, Episode 10: \u2018The Gang Squashes Their Beefs\u2019<\/h3>\n

The Gang is already an unhinged group of misfits that It\u2019s Always Sunny<\/em><\/a> viewers know and love. However, this episode is less about family and more about other feuds, which \u2014 spoiler alert \u2014 don\u2019t get squashed.<\/p>\n

The episode originally aired in November 2013, things become awkward for Dee (Kaitlin Olson<\/strong>), Mac (Rob McElhenney<\/strong>), Charlie (Charlie Kelly<\/strong>) Dennis (Glenn Howerton<\/strong>) and Frank (Danny DeVito<\/strong>) when they are forced to spend the holiday confronting old foes. As expected, this makes for a pretty interesting Thanksgiving dinner \u2014 and dysfunctional found family.<\/p>\n

8. \u2018Friends\u2019 Season 5, Episode 8: \u2018The One With All the Thanksgivings\u2019<\/h3>\n

If you\u2019re not watching this Friends<\/em> episode every Thanksgiving<\/a>, then what are you doing? Friends is the perfect example of a dysfunctional chosen family that anyone in their mid-20s can relate to \u2014 especially when it comes to the holidays.<\/p>\n

The episode, which first aired in November 1998, went back in time and reminisced about past Thanksgivings. Monica (Courteney Cox<\/strong>) recalled when Chandler (Matthew Perry<\/strong>) called her fat when he was in college. She later lost weight and attempted to seduce Chandler \u2014 but cut off his toe. To make things even more unhinged, Monica puts a raw turkey on her head in modern day. (Yes, this is that episode.)<\/p>\n

7. \u2018Georgie & Mandy\u2019s First Marriage\u2019 Season 1, Episode 5: \u2018Thanksgiving\u2019<\/h3>\n

It was a full family affair for Georgie & Mandy\u2019s First Marriage<\/em><\/a> when the Young Sheldon<\/em><\/a> cast finally reunited in the November 2024 episode. Of course, the episode has its fair share of drama.<\/p>\n

This episode comes shortly after George Cooper Sr\u2019s (Lance Barber) death on Young Sheldon. So, Georgie (Montana Jordan<\/strong>) and Mandy (Emily Osment<\/strong>) are determined to get his mother over for Thanksgiving. Mary (Zoe Perry<\/strong>) is in no mood to celebrate. Meanwhile, Mandy\u2019s parents are having their own issues as Audrey (Rachel Bay Jones<\/strong>) grows frustrated with Jim\u2019s (Will Sasso<\/strong>) drunken antics while she slaved away in the kitchen.<\/p>\n

The November 2003 episode has Ryan (Ben McKenzie<\/strong>) taking Marissa (Mischa Barton<\/strong>) to visit his brother in a Chino prison before heading back to Newport for their respective family Thanksgivings. Seth (Adam Brody<\/strong>) makes things even worse for the day when both Summer (Rachel Bilson<\/strong>) and Anna (Samaire Armstrong<\/strong>) are coming over for the holiday. Seth is seeing both of them at once and, as expected, this all comes to light.<\/p>\n

5. \u2018Gilmore Girls\u2019 Season 3, Episode 9: \u2018A Deep Fried Korean Thanksgiving\u2019<\/h3>\n

The series, which premiered in 2000 and was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, follows single mom Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) as she raises her daughter, Rory (Alexis Bledel), while trying to reconnect with her [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The episode premiered in November 2002 and follows the pair as they try to eat their way through four different Thanksgiving dinners. The dysfunction of it all comes in when they head to Emily (Kelly Bishop<\/strong>) and Richards (Edward Herrmann<\/strong>) for a traditional meal. Rory\u2019s college plans get brought up at the dinner table and things get heated. Eventually, they head back to Luke\u2019s where Rory\u2019s love life amps up the drama as her new boyfriend Jess (Milo Ventimiglia<\/strong>) gets threatened by her ex Dean (Jared Padalecki<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

4. \u2018The Sopranos\u2019 Season 3, Episode 8: \u2018He Is Risen\u2019<\/h3>\n

Being a mob family immediately puts this show high on the list, and as far as Thanksgivings go, The Sopranos<\/em><\/a> have a doozy of a dinner in this April 2001 installment.<\/p>\n

While Thanksgiving isn\u2019t the focal point of the episode, there are some wild plot points: a death on the toilet, a boyfriend for Meadow (Jamie Lynn Sigler<\/strong>) and even Tony (James Gandolfini<\/strong>) finds himself a new goomar. The episode\u2019s title comes from a Christian rock songwriter visiting the Soprano home for Thanksgiving dinner who declares \u201che is risen\u201d \u2014 wrong holiday, bud.<\/p>\n

After a failed attempt at cooking a full Thanksgiving dinner, the students all decide to get drunk and \u2026 slap each other in the face during the October 2024 episode. Stephen (Jackson White)<\/strong> continues to wreak havoc on his ex Lucy\u2019s (Grace Van Patten<\/strong>) new relationship with Leo (Thomas Doherty<\/strong>) even causing them to break up at the end of the episode.<\/p>\n

2. \u2018Gossip Girl\u2019 Season 1, Episode 9: \u2018Blair Waldorf Must Pie\u2019<\/h3>\n
